Первое послание к Коринфянам святого апостола Павла

Разве я не свободен? Разве я не апостол? Не видел ли я Иисуса, Господа нашего? И вы — не мой ли труд ради Господа?

Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

Если для других я и не апостол, то уж для вас — точно он, а вы — доказательство моего апостольства перед Господом.

If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

И вот что я скажу в ответ своим обвинителям:

Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,

разве у нас нет права получать пропитание за свой труд?

Have we not power to eat and to drink?

Разве нет у нас права приводить с собой жену, сестру по вере, как другие апостолы, как братья Господни и как Кифа?

Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

Или только мы с Варнавой лишены права не работать?

Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

Но какой же воин выступает в поход за свой счет? Кто, насадив виноградник, не попробует его плодов? Кто, пася стадо, не питается молоком от этого стада?

Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

Говорю это не просто по человеческому рассуждению, именно так утверждает и закон.

Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

В Моисеевом законе написано: «не надевай намордника волу, когда он молотит». Неужели Бог заботится о волах?

For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

Не о нас ли скорее это сказано? Конечно, это написано о нас, ведь надежда на прибыль должна быть и у того, кто пашет, и у того, кто обмолачивает урожай.

Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

Мы сеяли среди вас духовные семена — великое ли дело получить за это долю материального урожая?

If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

Если другие обладают у вас правами, то мы — тем более. Но мы этими правами не пользовались и сами переносили все трудности, чтобы не ставить преград Евангелию Христову.

If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

Разве не знаете, что служители храма питаются тем, что принесено в храм, и те, кто служит при жертвеннике, получают часть приносимых жертв?

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

Так Господь определил, чтобы те, кто возвещает Евангелие, тоже получали пропитание за Евангелие.

Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

Но я этим правом не пользовался, и теперь пишу вам не чтобы потребовать чего-то для себя — нет, я скорее умру! Вот та похвала, которой меня никто не лишит.

But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

Что я проповедую Евангелие, в этом для меня похвалы нет, это надлежащий мой долг, и горе мне, если бы не проповедовал.

For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

Если бы я делал это по своей воле, была бы мне награда, а если не по своей — я лишь исполняю служение.

For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

За что же мне тогда награда? За то, что я проповедую Евангелие безвозмездно и не пользуюсь правами, которые мне дает евангельская проповедь.

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

Я свободен по отношению ко всем людям, но сам сделал себя рабом для всех, чтобы привлечь как можно больше людей.

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

Для иудеев я был как иудей, чтобы привлечь иудеев; для исполняющих Моисеев закон, хотя сам я ему не подвластен, я был как исполняющий закон, чтобы привлечь тех, кто ему подвластен.

And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

Хотя Божий закон мне не чужд и я следую Христову закону, но для язычников, у которых нет Моисеева закона, я был как один из них, чтобы привлечь тех, у кого нет закона.

To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

Для слабых я был слаб, чтобы приобрести привлечь слабых, для всех я стал всем, чтобы спасти, кого можно.

To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

Всё я делаю ради Евангелия, чтобы и мне быть ему причастным.

And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Разве не знаете, что на соревнованиях все бегуны участвуют в забеге, но лишь один получает награду?

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

Всякий, кто вышел на состязание, напрягает все силы. Только атлеты получают венок, который увянет, а мы — неувядаемый.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Потому и я бегу не бесцельно, выхожу на поединок не для того, чтобы колотить руками воздух.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

Я закаляю и подчиняю свое тело, чтобы, принося весть другим, сам не оказался бы никчемным.

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
