Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Итак, подражайте Богу как Его возлюбленные дети

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

и поступайте по любви, ведь и Христос возлюбил нас и предал Себя в жертву за нас — благоуханное приношение, угодное Богу.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

И пусть даже речи у вас не будет ни о каком распутстве, нечистоте или жадности — не пристало это святым,

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

как не пристали и постыдные разговоры, глупости и шутовство: лучше благодарите Бога.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Вот что вам надо твердо знать: кто погряз в распутстве, скверне или стяжательстве (это всё равно что служение идолам), не будет иметь своей доли в царстве Христовом и Божьем.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Пусть никто не обманывает вас пустыми словами: такие поступки навлекают гнев Божий на непокорных —

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

не становитесь же их сообщниками!

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Прежде вы были тьмой, но теперь, благодаря Господу, вы — свет, так ведите себя, как дети света.

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

А плод света — всё, что есть доброго, праведного и истинного.

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Старайтесь понять, что угодно Господу,

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

и не участвуйте в бесплодных делах тьмы, а лучше обличайте их:

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

стыдно и упоминать, что такие люди вытворяют тайно.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Но всё, что становится явным, видится при свете:

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

ничего нельзя увидеть без света. И потому сказано: «Восстань, спящий, воскресни из мертвых, и осветит тебя Христос».

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Следите внимательнее за своими поступками, чтобы они были не безумными, а мудрыми.

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Дорожите временем, ведь времена теперь лихие.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Потому не будьте неразумны, исследуйте, в чем воля Господня.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Не злоупотребляйте вином, оно размывает границы, лучше наполняйтесь Духом.

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Друг с другом общайтесь псалмами, гимнами и духовными песнями, воспевая и восхваляя в сердцах ваших Господа,

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

всегда и за всё благодарите Бога и Отца во имя Господа нашего Иисуса Христа.

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Подчиняйтесь друг другу в страхе Христовом:

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

жены — собственным мужьям, словно Господу.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Ведь муж — глава жене, как Христос — Глава церкви и Спаситель тела.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

И как церковь подчиняется Христу, так и жены пусть во всем подчиняются своим мужьям.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Мужья, любите своих жен, как и Христос возлюбил церковь и предал Себя за нее.

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Он освятил ее Своим словом и очистил в купели крещения,

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Он поставил ее перед Собой славной церковью, святой и безупречной, без пятна, порока или чего-либо подобного.

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Так и мужья должны любить своих жен, как собственные тела — кто любит свою жену, по сути любит себя самого.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Не бывало такого, чтобы кто-то относился к собственному телу с пренебрежением, всякий питает и согревает его, как и Христос церковь:

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

она — Его тело, а мы — его части.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Сказано: «Потому оставит человек отца и мать и соединится с женой, , и двое станут единой плотью».

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Велико это таинство — я имею в виду брак Христа и церкви!

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Так и вы все до единого должны каждый любить свою жену, как самого себя, а жена пусть относится к мужу с почтительным страхом.
