Now it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:

В четвёртый год Иоаки́ма, сы́на Ио́сии, царя́ Иуде́йского, бы́ло тако́е сло́во к Иереми́и от Го́спода:

“Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.

возьми́ себе́ кни́жный сви́ток и напиши́ в нём все слова́, кото́рые Я говори́л тебе́ об Изра́иле и об Иу́де и о всех наро́дах с того́ дня, как Я на́чал говори́ть тебе́, от дней Ио́сии до сего́ дня;

It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

мо́жет быть, дом Иу́дин услы́шит о всех бе́дствиях, каки́е Я помышля́ю сде́лать им, что́бы они́ обрати́лись ка́ждый от зло́го пути́ своего́, что́бы Я прости́л непра́вду их и грех их.

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote on a scroll of a book, [a]at the instruction of Jeremiah, all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him.

И призва́л Иереми́я Вару́ха, сы́на Нири́и, и написа́л Вару́х в кни́жный сви́ток из уст Иереми́и все слова́ Го́спода, кото́рые Он говори́л ему́.

And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am confined, I cannot go into the house of the Lord.

И приказа́л Иереми́я Вару́ху и сказа́л: я заключён и не могу́ идти́ в дом Госпо́день;

You go, therefore, and read from the scroll which you have written [b]at my instruction, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of the people in the Lord’s house on the day of fasting. And you shall also read them in the hearing of all Judah who come from their cities.

ита́к, иди́ ты и прочита́й напи́санные тобо́ю в сви́тке с уст мои́х слова́ Госпо́дни вслух наро́да в до́ме Госпо́днем в день поста́, та́кже и вслух всех Иуде́ев, прише́дших из городо́в свои́х, прочита́й их;

It may be that they will present their supplication before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way. For great is the anger and the fury that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”

мо́жет быть, они́ вознесу́т смире́нное моле́ние пред лицо́ Го́спода и обратя́тся ка́ждый от зло́го пути́ своего́; и́бо вели́к гнев и негодова́ние, кото́рое объяви́л Госпо́дь на наро́д сей.

And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading from the book the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.

Вару́х, сын Нири́и, сде́лал всё, что приказа́л ему́ проро́к Иереми́я, что́бы слова́ Госпо́дни, напи́санные в сви́тке, прочита́ть в до́ме Госпо́днем.

Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.

В пя́тый год Иоаки́ма, сы́на Ио́сии, царя́ Иуде́йского, в девя́том ме́сяце объяви́ли пост пред лицо́м Го́спода всему́ наро́ду в Иерусали́ме и всему́ наро́ду, прише́дшему в Иерусали́м из городо́в Иуде́йских.

Then Baruch read from the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court at the entry of the New Gate of the Lord’s house, in the [c]hearing of all the people.

И прочита́л Вару́х напи́санные в сви́тке слова́ Иереми́и в до́ме Госпо́днем, в ко́мнате Гема́рии, сы́на Сафа́нова, писца́, на ве́рхнем дворе́, у вхо́да в но́вые воро́та до́ма Госпо́дня, вслух всего́ наро́да.

When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the Lord from the book,

Михе́й, сын Гема́рии, сы́на Сафа́нова, слы́шал все слова́ Госпо́дни, напи́санные в сви́тке,

he then went down to the king’s house, into the scribe’s chamber; and there all the princes were sitting — Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

и сошёл в дом царя́, в ко́мнату ца́рского писца́, и вот, там сиде́ли все князья́: Елиса́м, ца́рский писе́ц, и Дела́ия, сын Сема́ия, и Елнафа́н, сын Ахбо́ра, и Гема́рия, сын Сафа́на, и Седе́кия, сын Ана́нии, и все князья́;

Then Michaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read the book in the hearing of the people.

и пересказа́л им Михе́й все слова́, кото́рые он слы́шал, когда́ Вару́х чита́л сви́ток вслух наро́да.

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read in the hearing of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and came to them.

Тогда́ все князья́ посла́ли к Вару́ху Иегуди́я, сы́на Нафа́нии, сы́на Селеми́и, сы́на Хуси́и, сказа́ть ему́: сви́ток, кото́рый ты чита́л вслух наро́да, возьми́ в ру́ку твою́ и приди́. И взял Вару́х, сын Нири́и, сви́ток в ру́ку свою́ и пришёл к ним.

And they said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.

Они́ сказа́ли ему́: сядь и прочита́й нам вслух. И прочита́л Вару́х вслух им.

Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, that they looked in fear from one to another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.”

Когда́ они́ вы́слушали все слова́, то с у́жасом посмотре́ли друг на дру́га и сказа́ли Вару́ху: мы непреме́нно переска́жем все сии́ слова́ царю́.

And they asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words — [d]at his instruction?”

И спроси́ли Вару́ха: скажи́ же нам, как ты написа́л все слова́ сии́ из уст его́?

So Baruch answered them, “He proclaimed with his mouth all these words to me, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”

И сказа́л им Вару́х: он произноси́л мне уста́ми свои́ми все сии́ слова́, а я черни́лами писа́л их в э́тот сви́ток.

Then the princes said to Baruch, “Go and hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no one know where you are.”

Тогда́ сказа́ли князья́ Вару́ху: пойди́, скро́йся, ты и Иереми́я, что́бы никто́ не знал, где вы.

And they went to the king, into the court; but they stored the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the hearing of the king.

И пошли́ они́ к царю́ во дворе́ц, а сви́ток оста́вили в ко́мнате Елиса́ма, ца́рского писца́, и пересказа́ли вслух царя́ все слова́ сии́.

So the king sent Jehudi to bring the scroll, and he took it from Elishama the scribe’s chamber. And Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king and in the hearing of all the princes who stood beside the king.

Царь посла́л Иегуди́я принести́ сви́ток, и он взял его́ из ко́мнаты Елиса́ма, ца́рского писца́; и чита́л его́ Иегуди́й вслух царя́ и вслух всех князе́й, стоя́вших по́дле царя́.

Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, with a fire burning on the hearth before him.

Царь в то вре́мя, в девя́том ме́сяце, сиде́л в зи́мнем до́ме, и пе́ред ним горе́ла жаро́вня.

And it happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with the scribe’s knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

Когда́ Иегуди́й прочи́тывал три и́ли четы́ре столбца́, царь отре́зывал их писцо́вым но́жичком и броса́л на ого́нь в жаро́вне, доко́ле не уничто́жен был весь сви́ток на огне́, кото́рый был в жаро́вне.

Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words.

И не убоя́лись, и не разодра́ли оде́жд свои́х ни царь, ни все слу́ги его́, слы́шавшие все слова́ сии́.

Nevertheless Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah implored the king not to burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.

Хотя́ Елнафа́н и Дела́ия и Гема́рия упра́шивали царя́ не сожига́ть сви́тка, но он не послу́шал их.

And the king commanded Jerahmeel [e]the king’s son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord hid them.

И приказа́л царь Иерамеи́лу, сы́ну царя́, и Сера́ии, сы́ну Азрии́лову, и Селеми́и, сы́ну Авдии́лову, взять Вару́ха писца́ и Иереми́ю проро́ка; но Госпо́дь сокры́л их.

Now after the king had burned the scroll with the words which Baruch had written [f]at the instruction of Jeremiah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:

И бы́ло сло́во Госпо́дне к Иереми́и, по́сле того́ как царь сжёг сви́ток и слова́, кото́рые Вару́х написа́л из уст Иереми́и, и ска́зано ему́:

“Take yet another scroll, and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

возьми́ себе́ опя́ть друго́й сви́ток и напиши́ в нём все пре́жние слова́, каки́е бы́ли в пе́рвом сви́тке, кото́рый сжёг Иоаки́м, царь Иуде́йский;

And you shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, ‘Thus says the Lord: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and cause man and beast to cease from here?’ ”

а царю́ Иуде́йскому Иоаки́му скажи́: так говори́т Госпо́дь: ты сжёг сви́ток сей, сказа́в: «заче́м ты написа́л в нём: непреме́нно придёт царь Вавило́нский и разори́т зе́млю сию́, и истреби́т на ней люде́й и скот?»

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.

за э́то, так говори́т Госпо́дь об Иоаки́ме, царе́ Иуде́йском: не бу́дет от него́ сидя́щего на престо́ле Дави́довом, и труп его́ бу́дет бро́шен на зной дневно́й и на хо́лод ночно́й;

I will punish him, his [g]family, and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah all the doom that I have pronounced against them; but they did not heed.” ’ ”

и посещу́ его́ и пле́мя его́ и слуг его́ за непра́вду их, и наведу́ на них и на жи́телей Иерусали́ма и на муже́й Иу́ды все зло, кото́рое Я изрёк на них, а они́ не слу́шали.

Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it [h]at the instruction of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And besides, there were added to them many similar words.

И взял Иереми́я друго́й сви́ток и отда́л его́ Вару́ху писцу́, сы́ну Нири́и, и он написа́л в нём из уст Иереми́и все слова́ того́ сви́тка, кото́рый сжёг Иоаки́м, царь Иуде́йский, на огне́; и ещё приба́влено к ним мно́го подо́бных тем слов.
