Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, Against those who dwell in [a]Leb Kamai, A destroying wind.

Так говори́т Госпо́дь: вот, Я подниму́ на Вавило́н и на живу́щих среди́ него́ проти́вников Мои́х.

And I will send winnowers to Babylon, Who shall winnow her and empty her land. For in the day of doom They shall be against her all around.

И пошлю́ на Вавило́н ве́ятелей, и разве́ют его́, и опустоша́т зе́млю его́; и́бо в день бе́дствия нападу́т на него́ со всех сторо́н.

Against her let the archer bend his bow, And lift himself up against her in his armor. Do not spare her young men; Utterly destroy all her army.

Пусть стреле́ц напряга́ет лук про́тив напряга́ющего лук и на велича́ющегося бронёю свое́ю; и не щади́те ю́ношей его́, истреби́те всё во́йско его́.

Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, And those thrust through in her streets.

Поражённые пусть паду́т на земле́ Халде́йской, и пронзённые — на доро́гах её.

For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, By his God, the Lord of hosts, Though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.”

И́бо не овдове́л Изра́иль и Иу́да от Бо́га Своего́, Го́спода Савао́фа; хотя́ земля́ их полна́ греха́ми пред Святы́м Изра́илевым.

Flee from the midst of Babylon, And every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, For this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; He shall recompense her.

Беги́те из среды́ Вавило́на и спаса́йте ка́ждый ду́шу свою́, что́бы не поги́бнуть от беззако́ния его́, и́бо э́то вре́мя отмще́ния у Го́спода, Он воздаёт ему́ воздая́ние.

Babylon was a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, That made all the earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; Therefore the nations are deranged.

Вавило́н был золото́ю ча́шею в руке́ Го́спода, опьяня́вшею всю зе́млю; наро́ды пи́ли из неё вино́ и безу́мствовали.

Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed. Wail for her! Take balm for her pain; Perhaps she may be healed.

Внеза́пно пал Вавило́н и разби́лся; рыда́йте о нём, возьми́те бальза́ма для ра́ны его́: мо́жет быть, он исцеле́ет.

We would have healed Babylon, But she is not healed. Forsake her, and let us go everyone to his own country; For her judgment reaches to heaven and is lifted up to the skies.

Врачева́ли мы Вавило́н, но не исцели́лся; оста́вьте его́, и пойдём ка́ждый в свою́ зе́млю, потому́ что пригово́р о нём дости́г до небе́с и подня́лся до облако́в.

The Lord has revealed our righteousness. Come and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.

Госпо́дь вы́вел на свет пра́вду на́шу; пойдём и возвести́м на Сио́не де́ло Го́спода Бо́га на́шего.

Make[b] the arrows bright! Gather the shields! The Lord has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes. For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it, Because it is the vengeance of the Lord, The vengeance for His temple.

Остри́те стре́лы, наполня́йте колча́ны; Госпо́дь возбуди́л дух царе́й Миди́йских, потому́ что у Него́ есть наме́рение про́тив Вавило́на, что́бы истреби́ть его́, и́бо э́то есть отмще́ние Го́спода, отмще́ние за храм Его́.

Set up the standard on the walls of Babylon; Make the guard strong, Set up the watchmen, Prepare the ambushes. For the Lord has both devised and done What He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.

Про́тив стен Вавило́на подними́те зна́мя, уси́льте надзо́р, расста́вьте стороже́й, пригото́вьте заса́ды, и́бо, как Госпо́дь помы́слил, так и сде́лает, что изрёк на жи́телей Вавило́на.

O you who dwell by many waters, Abundant in treasures, Your end has come, The measure of your covetousness.

О, ты, живу́щий при во́дах вели́ких, изоби́лующий сокро́вищами! пришёл коне́ц твой, ме́ра жа́дности твое́й.

The Lord of hosts has sworn by Himself: “Surely I will fill you with men, as with locusts, And they shall lift up a shout against you.”

Госпо́дь Савао́ф покля́лся Сами́м Собо́ю: и́стинно говорю́, что напо́лню тебя́ людьми́, как саранчо́ю, и подни́мут крик про́тив тебя́.

He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.

Он сотвори́л зе́млю си́лою Свое́ю, утверди́л вселе́нную му́дростью Свое́ю и ра́зумом Свои́м распростёр небеса́.

When He utters His voice — There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”

По гла́су Его́ шумя́т во́ды на небеса́х, и Он возво́дит облака́ от краёв земли́, твори́т мо́лнии среди́ дождя́ и изво́дит ве́тер из храни́лищ Свои́х.

Everyone is dull-hearted, without knowledge; Every metalsmith is put to shame by the carved image; For his molded image is falsehood, And there is no breath in them.

Безу́мствует вся́кий челове́к в своём зна́нии, срами́т себя́ вся́кий плави́льщик истука́ном свои́м, и́бо истука́н его́ есть ложь, и нет в нём ду́ха.

They are futile, a work of errors; In the time of their punishment they shall perish.

Э́то соверше́нная пустота́, де́ло заблужде́ния; во вре́мя посеще́ния их они́ исче́знут.

The Portion of Jacob is not like them, For He is the Maker of all things; And Israel is the tribe of His inheritance. The Lord of hosts is His name.

Не такова́, как их, до́ля Иа́кова, и́бо Бог его́ есть Творе́ц всего́, и Изра́иль есть жезл насле́дия Его́, и́мя Его́ — Госпо́дь Савао́ф.

“You are My battle-ax and weapons of war: For with you I will break the nation in pieces; With you I will destroy kingdoms;

Ты у Меня́ — мо́лот, ору́жие во́инское; тобо́ю Я поража́л наро́ды и тобо́ю разоря́л ца́рства;

With you I will break in pieces the horse and its rider; With you I will break in pieces the chariot and its rider;

тобо́ю поража́л коня́ и вса́дника его́ и тобо́ю поража́л колесни́цу и возни́цу её;

With you also I will break in pieces man and woman; With you I will break in pieces old and young; With you I will break in pieces the young man and the maiden;

тобо́ю поража́л му́жа и жену́, тобо́ю поража́л и ста́рого и молодо́го, тобо́ю поража́л и ю́ношу и деви́цу;

With you also I will break in pieces the shepherd and his flock; With you I will break in pieces the farmer and his yoke of oxen; And with you I will break in pieces governors and rulers.

и тобо́ю поража́л пастуха́ и ста́до его́, тобо́ю поража́л земледе́льца и рабо́чий скот его́, тобо́ю поража́л и областенача́льников и градоправи́телей.

“And I will repay Babylon And all the inhabitants of Chaldea For all the evil they have done In Zion in your sight,” says the Lord.

И возда́м Вавило́ну и всем жи́телям Халде́и за всё то зло, како́е они́ де́лали на Сио́не в глаза́х ва́ших, говори́т Госпо́дь.

“Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, Who destroys all the earth,” says the Lord. “And I will stretch out My hand against you, Roll you down from the rocks, And make you a burnt mountain.

Вот, Я — на тебя́, гора́ губи́тельная, говори́т Госпо́дь, разоря́ющая всю зе́млю, и простру́ на тебя́ ру́ку Мою́, и низри́ну тебя́ со скал, и сде́лаю тебя́ горо́ю обгоре́лою.

They shall not take from you a stone for a corner Nor a stone for a foundation, But you shall be desolate forever,” says the Lord.

И не возьму́т из тебя́ ка́мня для угло́в и ка́мня для основа́ния, но ве́чно бу́дешь запусте́нием, говори́т Госпо́дь.

Set up a banner in the land, Blow the trumpet among the nations! Prepare the nations against her, Call the kingdoms together against her: Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz. Appoint a general against her; Cause the horses to come up like the bristling locusts.

Подними́те зна́мя на земле́, труби́те трубо́ю среди́ наро́дов, вооружи́те про́тив него́ наро́ды, созови́те на него́ ца́рства Арара́тские, Мини́йские и Аскена́зские, поста́вьте вождя́ про́тив него́, наведи́те коне́й, как стра́шную саранчу́.

Prepare against her the nations, With the kings of the Medes, Its governors and all its rulers, All the land of his dominion.

Вооружи́те про́тив него́ наро́ды, царе́й Ми́дии, областенача́льников её и всех градоправи́телей её, и всю зе́млю, подвла́стную ей.

And the land will tremble and sorrow; For every purpose of the Lord shall be performed against Babylon, To make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant.

Трясётся земля́ и трепе́щет, и́бо исполня́ются над Вавило́ном наме́рения Го́спода сде́лать зе́млю Вавило́нскую пусты́нею, без жи́телей.

The mighty men of Babylon have ceased fighting, They have remained in their strongholds; Their might has failed, They became like women; They have burned her dwelling places, The bars of her gate are broken.

Переста́ли сража́ться си́льные Вавило́нские, сидя́т в укрепле́ниях свои́х; истощи́лась си́ла их, сде́лались как же́нщины, жили́ща их сожжены́, затво́ры их сокрушены́.

One runner will run to meet another, And one messenger to meet another, To show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on all sides;

Гоне́ц бежи́т навстре́чу гонцу́, и ве́стник — навстре́чу ве́стнику, что́бы возвести́ть царю́ Вавило́нскому, что го́род его́ взят со всех концо́в,

The passages are blocked, The reeds they have burned with fire, And the men of war are terrified.

и бро́ды захва́чены, и огра́ды сожжены́ огнём, и во́ины поражены́ стра́хом.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor When it is time to thresh her; Yet a little while And the time of her harvest will come.”

И́бо так говори́т Госпо́дь Савао́ф, Бог Изра́илев: дочь Вавило́на подо́бна гумну́ во вре́мя молотьбы́ на нём; ещё немно́го, и насту́пит вре́мя жа́твы её.

“Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon Has devoured me, he has crushed me; He has made me an empty vessel, He has swallowed me up like a monster; He has filled his stomach with my delicacies, He has spit me out.

Пожира́л меня́ и грыз меня́ Навуходоно́сор, царь Вавило́нский; сде́лал меня́ пусты́м сосу́дом; поглоща́л меня́, как драко́н; наполня́л чре́во своё сластя́ми мои́ми, изверга́л меня́.

Let the violence done to me and my flesh be upon Babylon,” The inhabitant of Zion will say; “And my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea!” Jerusalem will say.

Оби́да моя́ и плоть моя́ — на Вавило́не, ска́жет обита́тельница Сио́на, и кровь моя́ — на жи́телях Халде́и, ска́жет Иерусали́м.

Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.

Посему́ так говори́т Госпо́дь: вот, Я вступлю́сь в твоё де́ло и отмщу́ за тебя́, и осушу́ мо́ре его́, и иссушу́ кана́лы его́.

Babylon shall become a heap, A dwelling place for jackals, An astonishment and a hissing, Without an inhabitant.

И Вавило́н бу́дет гру́дою разва́лин, жили́щем шака́лов, у́жасом и посмея́нием, без жи́телей.

They shall roar together like lions, They shall growl like lions’ whelps.

Как львы зары́кают все они́ и зареву́т как щенки́ льви́ные.

In their excitement I will prepare their feasts; I will make them drunk, That they may rejoice, And sleep a perpetual sleep And not awake,” says the Lord.

Во вре́мя разгоряче́ния их сде́лаю им пир и упою́ их, что́бы они́ повесели́лись и засну́ли ве́чным сном, и не пробужда́лись, говори́т Госпо́дь.

“I will bring them down Like lambs to the slaughter, Like rams with male goats.

Сведу́ их как ягня́т на закла́ние, как овно́в с козла́ми.

“Oh, how Sheshach[c] is taken! Oh, how the praise of the whole earth is seized! How Babylon has become desolate among the nations!

Как взят Сеса́х и завоёвана сла́ва всей земли́! Как сде́лался Вавило́н у́жасом ме́жду наро́дами!

The sea has come up over Babylon; She is covered with the multitude of its waves.

Устреми́лось на Вавило́н мо́ре; он покры́т мно́жеством волн его́.

Her cities are a desolation, A dry land and a wilderness, A land where no one dwells, Through which no son of man passes.

Города́ его́ сде́лались пусты́ми, землёю сухо́ю, сте́пью, землёю, где не живёт ни оди́н челове́к и где не прохо́дит сын челове́ческий.

I will punish Bel[d] in Babylon, And I will bring out of his mouth what he has swallowed; And the nations shall not stream to him anymore. Yes, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

И посещу́ Вила́ в Вавило́не, и исто́ргну из уст его́ прогло́ченное им, и наро́ды не бу́дут бо́лее стека́ться к нему́, да́же и сте́ны Вавило́нские паду́т.

“My people, go out of the midst of her! And let everyone deliver [e]himself from the fierce anger of the Lord.

Выходи́ из среды́ его́, наро́д Мой, и спаса́йте ка́ждый ду́шу свою́ от пла́менного гне́ва Го́спода.

And lest your heart faint, And you fear for the rumor that will be heard in the land (A rumor will come one year, And after that, in another year A rumor will come, And violence in the land, Ruler against ruler),

Да не ослабева́ет се́рдце ва́ше, и не бо́йтесь слу́ха, кото́рый бу́дет слы́шен на земле́; слух придёт в оди́н год, и пото́м в друго́й год, и на земле́ бу́дет наси́лие, властели́н восста́нет на властели́на.

Therefore behold, the days are coming That I will bring judgment on the carved images of Babylon; Her whole land shall be ashamed, And all her slain shall fall in her midst.

Посему́ вот, прихо́дят дни, когда́ Я посещу́ и́долов Вавило́на, и вся земля́ его́ бу́дет посрамлена́, и все поражённые его́ паду́т среди́ него́.

Then the heavens and the earth and all that is in them Shall sing joyously over Babylon; For the plunderers shall come to her from the north,” says the Lord.

И восторжеству́ют над Вавило́ном не́бо и земля́ и всё, что на них; и́бо от се́вера приду́т к нему́ опустоши́тели, говори́т Госпо́дь.

As Babylon has caused the slain of Israel to fall, So at Babylon the slain of all the earth shall fall.

Как Вавило́н поверга́л поражённых Израильтя́н, так в Вавило́не бу́дут пове́ржены поражённые всей страны́.

You who have escaped the sword, Get away! Do not stand still! Remember the Lord afar off, And let Jerusalem come to your mind.

Спа́сшиеся от меча́, уходи́те, не остана́вливайтесь, вспо́мните и́здали о Го́споде, и да взойдёт Иерусали́м на се́рдце ва́ше.

We are ashamed because we have heard reproach. Shame has covered our faces, For strangers have come into the [f]sanctuaries of the Lord’s house.

Сты́дно нам бы́ло, когда́ мы слы́шали руга́тельство: бесче́стие покрыва́ло лица́ на́ши, когда́ чужезе́мцы пришли́ во святи́лище до́ма Госпо́дня.

“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “That I will bring judgment on her carved images, And throughout all her land the wounded shall groan.

За то вот, прихо́дят дни, говори́т Госпо́дь, когда́ Я посещу́ истука́нов его́, и по всей земле́ его́ бу́дут стона́ть ра́неные.

Though Babylon were to [g]mount up to heaven, And though she were to fortify the height of her strength, Yet from Me plunderers would come to her,” says the Lord.

Хотя́ бы Вавило́н возвы́сился до небе́с, и хотя́ бы он на высоте́ укрепи́л тверды́ню свою́; но от Меня́ приду́т к нему́ опустоши́тели, говори́т Госпо́дь.

The sound of a cry comes from Babylon, And great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans,

Пронесётся гул во́пля от Вавило́на, и вели́кое разруше́ние — от земли́ Халде́йской,

Because the Lord is plundering Babylon And silencing her loud voice, Though her waves roar like great waters, And the noise of their voice is uttered,

и́бо Госпо́дь опустоши́т Вавило́н и поло́жит коне́ц гордели́вому го́лосу в нём. Зашумя́т во́лны их как больши́е во́ды, разда́стся шу́мный го́лос их.

Because the plunderer comes against her, against Babylon, And her mighty men are taken. Every one of their bows is broken; For the Lord is the God of recompense, He will surely repay.

И́бо придёт на него́, на Вавило́н, опустоши́тель, и взя́ты бу́дут ратобо́рцы его́, сокрушены́ бу́дут лу́ки их; и́бо Госпо́дь, Бог воздая́ний, возда́ст воздая́ние.

“And I will make drunk Her princes and wise men, Her governors, her deputies, and her mighty men. And they shall sleep a perpetual sleep And not awake,” says the King, Whose name is the Lord of hosts.

И напою́ допьяна́ князе́й его́ и мудрецо́в его́, областенача́льников его́, и градоправи́телей его́, и во́инов его́, и засну́т сном ве́чным, и не пробудя́тся, говори́т Царь — Госпо́дь Савао́ф и́мя Его́.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken,[h] And her high gates shall be burned with fire; The people will labor in vain, And the nations, because of the fire; And they shall be weary.”

Так говори́т Госпо́дь Савао́ф: то́лстые сте́ны Вавило́на до основа́ния бу́дут разру́шены, и высо́кие воро́та его́ бу́дут сожжены́ огнём; ита́к, напра́сно труди́лись наро́ды, и племена́ му́чили себя́ для огня́.

The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And Seraiah was the quartermaster.

Сло́во, кото́рое проро́к Иереми́я запове́дал Сера́ии, сы́ну Нири́и, сы́ну Масе́и, когда́ он отправля́лся в Вавило́н с Седе́киею, царём Иуде́йским, в четвёртый год его́ ца́рствования; Сера́ия был гла́вный посте́льничий.

So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that would come upon Babylon, all these words that are written against Babylon.

Иереми́я вписа́л в одну́ кни́гу все бе́дствия, каки́е должны́ бы́ли прийти́ на Вавило́н, все сии́ ре́чи, напи́санные на Вавило́н.

And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “When you arrive in Babylon and see it, and read all these words,

И сказа́л Иереми́я Сера́ии: когда́ ты придёшь в Вавило́н, то смотри́, прочита́й все сии́ ре́чи,

then you shall say, ‘O Lord, You have spoken against this place to cut it off, so that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but it shall be desolate forever.’

и скажи́: «Го́споди! Ты изрёк о ме́сте сём, что истреби́шь его́ так, что не оста́нется в нём ни челове́ка, ни скота́, но оно́ бу́дет ве́чною пусты́нею».

Now it shall be, when you have finished reading this book, that you shall tie a stone to it and throw it out into the Euphrates.

И когда́ око́нчишь чте́ние сей кни́ги, привяжи́ к ней ка́мень и брось её в среди́ну Евфра́та,

Then you shall say, ‘Thus Babylon shall sink and not rise from the catastrophe that I will bring upon her. And they shall be weary.’ ” Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

и скажи́: «так погрузи́тся Вавило́н и не восста́нет от того́ бе́дствия, кото́рое Я наведу́ на него́, и они́ соверше́нно изнемо́гут». Досе́ле — ре́чи Иереми́и.
