Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed.

В Иконии они, как обычно, пришли в еврейскую синагогу и говорили так убедительно, что уверовали многие иудеи и язычники.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.a

Но некоторые иудеи не поверили и отравили умы язычников, внушив злобу против братьев.

So they remained for a long time, speaking boldly for the Lord, who bore witness to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Павел и Варнава пробыли там долгое время и смело говорили о Господе, Который во свидетельство Своей благодати творил их руками знамения и чудеса.

But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.

Население города разделилось: одни были с иудеями, другие с апостолами.

When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to mistreat them and to stone them,

Когда же язычники и иудеи вместе с их предводителями задумали посрамить и побить Павла и Варнаву камнями,

they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country,

то апостолы, узнав об этом, ушли в окрестность городов Листра и Дервия, в Ликаонии,

and there they continued to preach the gospel.

и там продолжали благовествовать.

Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked.

В Листре жил человек, не владевший ногами. Он был калекой ещё от рождения и никогда не ходил.

He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,b

Этот человек сидел и слушал речи Павла. Павел посмотрел на него и, увидев, что есть у того вера получить исцеление,

said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.

громко сказал: "Встань на ноги". И калека вскочил и стал ходить.

And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

Тогда люди, увидев, что сделал Павел, закричали на своём языке: "Боги в образе человеческом сошли к нам,"

Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

и назвали Варнаву Зевсом, а Павла — Гермесом, так как из них двоих говорил он.

And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds.

За городскими воротами стоял храм Зевса. Жрец этого храма привёл быков и принёс венки к воротам и хотел вместе с народом принести жертвы в знак поклонения апостолам.

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out into the crowd, crying out,

Услышав об этом, Варнава и Павел разорвали одежды и с криком бросились к толпе,

“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.

восклицая: "Люди, что вы делаете? Мы не боги, а такие же, как и вы! Мы пришли к вам с благовестием, чтобы от этих пустых вещей вы обратились к живому Богу, создавшему небо и землю, и море, и всё, что в них.

In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.

Прежде Он позволял каждому народу идти своим путём,

Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”

хотя постоянно напоминал о Себе, творя добро: посылал вам с неба дожди, давая вам урожай в плодоносное время, даруя вам пищу, а сердца ваши наполняя радостью".

Even with these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.

Даже такими словами Павел и Варнава едва сумели удержать толпу от жертвоприношения им.

But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having persuaded the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

Но в это время пришли из Антиохии и Иконии иудеи и настроили толпу против апостолов. Они побили камнями Павла и выволокли его за город, думая, что он умер.

But when the disciples gathered about him, he rose up and entered the city, and on the next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.

Когда ученики собрались вокруг него, он встал и пошёл в город, а на следующий день вместе с Варнавой отправился в Дервию.

When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,

И благовествовали они в том городе и приобрели много учеников, а потом возвратились в Листру, Иконию и Антиохию,

strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

укрепляя души учеников и побуждая их оставаться твёрдыми в вере. Они говорили: "Через множество страданий надлежит нам войти в Царство Божье".

And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

Избрав в каждой церкви старейшин, Павел и Варнава после молитвы и поста передали их на милость Господа, в Которого те уверовали.

Then they passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.

Пройдя через Писидию, они пришли в Памфилию

And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia,

и проповедовали в Пергии, потом спустились в Атталию,

and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled.

а оттуда отплыли в Антиохию, из которой прежде по благодати Божьей, были посланы свершить то, что было ими исполнено.

And when they arrived and gathered the church together, they declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

Прибыв туда и собрав всю церковь, они рассказали обо всём, что сотворил через них Бог, и как Он открыл язычникам дверь веры;

And they remained no little time with the disciples.

И долго ещё оставались они там с учениками.
