Иисус сказал ученикам: «Один богач держал управляющего, и от людей он узнал, что держит расхитителя.

Now He was also saying to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to him as squandering his possessions.

Он призвал управляющего и говорит: “Что это о тебе я слышу? Дай мне отчет по хозяйству. Хозяйством ты больше заведовать не будешь.”

“And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

Управляющий задумался: “Как быть? Хозяин меня прогоняет. В земле ковыряться не с руки, нищенствовать — стыдно...

“The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.

Нет, я знаю, что делать. Вот где я получу место, когда останусь не у дел!”

‘I know what I shall do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.’

Одного за другим он потребовал к себе должников хозяина и первому говорит: “Сколько ты должен моему хозяину?”

“And he summoned each one of his master’s debtors, and he began saying to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’

Тот отвечал: “Сто кувшинов масла.” Говорит ему: “Вот твоя расписка. Скорей садись и пиши: пятьдесят.”

“And he said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

Потом другому говорит: “А ты сколько должен?” Тот сказал: “Сто мешков пшеницы.” И говорит ему: “Вот твоя расписка. Пиши: восемьдесят.”

“Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’

И хозяин обманщика готов был восхищаться тем, как ловко тот выкрутился. Люди этого мира по-своему сметливее тех, кто несет в себе свет.

“And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.

Говорю вам: приобретайте себе друзей маммоной облыжной. Иссякнет маммона, и они примут вас в свои вечные обители.

“And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.

Тот, кому можно довериться в малом, не подведет и в большом. А кто ненадежен в малом, ненадежен и в большом.

“He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.

Если вам нельзя доверить маммону облыжную, кто вам доверит истинное богатство?

“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?

Если вам нельзя доверить чужое, кто вам даст ваше?

“And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

Слуга не может иметь двух господ. Одному он будет служить с охотой, а другому кое-как; одним будет дорожить, а другим пренебрегать. Нет, нельзя сразу служить и Богу, и маммоне.

“No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”

Фарисеи, у которых душа горит до денег, отозвались на это с насмешкой.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him.

Иисус сказал: «Вы заноситесь перед людьми, но Бог видит вас насквозь. На что зарится человек, то мерзость перед Богом.

And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.

Закон и Пророки были до Иоанна. А с Иоанна возвещается Божье Царство и поощрение всем, кто дерзает в него войти.

“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

Но при этом скорее небо и земля сойдут на нет, чем один штришок из Закона утратит силу.

“But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.

Кто уходит от жены и женится на другой — нарушает верность. И кто женится на разведенной — нарушает верность.

“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

Один человек жил на широкую ногу, одевался в пурпур тонкого полотна и каждый день задавал пир горой.

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day.

А нищий, по имени Лазарь, лежал у его ворот весь в струпьях

“And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,

И довольствовался крошками со стола богача. Псы приходили слизывать с него струпья.

and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.

В свое время умер нищий, и ангелы отнесли его в укромы Авраамовы. Умер и богач. Похоронили его.

“Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried.

И в аду, пребывая в муках, он поднял глаза и увидел вдали Авраама и с ним Лазаря.

“In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.

И крикнул: “Сжалься надо мной, отче Авраам! Пошли ко мне Лазаря. Пусть омочит в воде кончик пальца и охладит мне язык. Ведь как я мучусь в этом огне!”

“And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

Но Авраам сказал: “Чадо! Вспомни, что ты сполна получил свое хорошее в жизни, а Лазарь, напротив — обидное. И сейчас он здесь утешен, а ты претерпеваешь мучения.

“But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.

К тому же между нами пролегла бездонная пропасть, и отсюда к вам никто не может перебраться, как бы ни хотел, да и от вас к нам.”

‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

Тогда богач говорит: “Если так, прошу тебя, отче, пошли его в дом моего отца.

“And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house —

Там у меня пятеро братьев. Пусть он им все расскажет, а то и они угодят сюда на мучения.”

for I have five brothers — in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

Авраам говорит ему: “У них есть Моисей и пророки: пусть их слушают.”

“But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’

Отвечает: “Нет, отче Авраам! Вот если бы кто из мертвых встал и пришел к ним — покаются.”

“But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’

Но Авраам на это возразил: “Если они Моисея и пророков не слушают, то и воскресший из мертвых ничему их не научит”».

“But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
