Немного позже Иисус пошел на иудейский праздник в Иерусалим.

After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

В Иерусалиме, недалеко от Овечьих ворот, есть бассейн, называемый по-еврейски Вифезда, окруженный пятью крытыми колоннадами.

Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

Там лежало много инвалидов, слепых, хромых и парализованных. Они ожидали движения воды.

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

Иногда ангел Господа сходил и возмущал воду, и тогда первый, кто входил в бассейн, исцелялся от любой болезни.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

Среди них был человек, больной уже тридцать восемь лет.

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

Когда Иисус увидел его лежащим там и узнал, что он уже давно в таком состоянии, Он спросил его: — Ты хочешь выздороветь?

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

Больной ответил: — Господин, да ведь нет никого, кто бы помог мне войти в воду, когда вода бурлит. Когда я стараюсь сам дойти до воды, кто-нибудь меня уже опережает.

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

Тогда Иисус сказал ему: — Встань! Бери свою циновку и иди.

Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

И человек тот в тот же миг стал здоров. Он взял свою циновку и пошел. Это произошло в субботу.

And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Иудеи поэтому сказали исцеленному: — Сегодня суббота, и тебе нельзя нести циновку.

The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

Но он ответил: — Тот, кто исцелил меня, тот и сказал мне: "Возьми свою циновку и иди".

He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

Они спросили: — Кто Он такой, тот, кто сказал тебе взять циновку и идти?

Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

Исцеленный и сам не знал, кто это был, потому что Иисус скрылся в толпе, которая была там.

And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

Позже Иисус нашел его в храме и сказал: — Ну вот ты и здоров. Не греши больше, чтоб не случилось с тобой еще худшего.

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

Человек этот тогда пошел и сказал иудеям, что его исцелил Иисус.

The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

Иудеи стали преследовать Иисуса, потому что Он сделал это в субботу.

And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

Иисус же сказал им: — Мой Отец совершает работу всегда, и Я тоже это делаю.

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

Тогда иудеи еще более усердно стали искать возможности убить Иисуса, ведь Он не только нарушал субботу, но к тому же называл Бога своим Отцом, приравнивая себя к Богу.

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

На это Иисус ответил им так: — Говорю вам истину, Сын сам по себе не может делать ничего. Он может делать только то, что видит, как делает Его Отец. То, что делает Отец, делает и Сын.

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Отец любит Сына и показывает Ему все, что делает сам, и вы удивитесь еще больше, потому что Он покажет Сыну еще более удивительные дела.

For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

Точно так, как Отец воскрешает мертвых и дает им жизнь, так и Сын дает жизнь тем, кому хочет.

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

Более того, Отец никого не судит, Он доверил весь суд Сыну,

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

чтобы все почитали Сына, как они чтят Отца. Тот, кто не чтит Сына, не чтит и Отца, пославшего Сына. —

That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

Говорю вам истину: всякий, кто слышит Мое слово и верит пославшему Меня, имеет жизнь вечную, и ему не придется приходить на суд, он уже перешел из смерти в жизнь.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Говорю вам истину, наступает время, и уже наступило, когда мертвые услышат голос Сына Божьего, и те, кто услышит, оживут.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Потому что как Отец имеет жизнь в самом себе, так Он дал иметь жизнь в самом себе и Сыну.

For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Он дал Ему власть судить, потому что Он — Сын Человеческий.

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Не удивляйтесь этому, потому что настанет время, когда все, кто находится сейчас в могилах, услышат Его голос

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

и выйдут из могил. Те, кто делал добро, воскреснут, чтобы жить, и те, кто делал зло, поднимутся, чтобы получить осуждение.

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Я не могу ничего делать сам от себя. Я сужу так, как Мне сказано, и Мой суд справедлив, потому что Я не по своей воле поступаю, а по воле пославшего Меня Отца.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

— Если бы Я свидетельствовал сам о себе, то свидетельство Мое было бы недействительно,

If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

но обо Мне свидетельствует еще один свидетель, и Я знаю, что Его свидетельство обо Мне истинно.

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

Вы посылали к Иоанну, и он свидетельствовал об истине.

Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

Я не нуждаюсь в свидетельстве людей, но говорю об этом, чтобы вы были спасены.

But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

Иоанн был горящим и сияющим светильником, и вы некоторое время радовались при его свете.

He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

Но у Меня есть свидетельство сильнее Иоаннова. Дела, которые Отец поручил Мне совершить и которые Я совершаю, свидетельствуют о том, что Отец послал Меня.

But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

Обо Мне свидетельствует и сам Отец, пославший Меня. Вы никогда не слышали Его голоса и не видели Его облика.

And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

Его слово не живет в вас, потому что вы не верите тому, кого Он послал.

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

Вы старательно исследуете Писания, надеясь через них получить жизнь вечную. A ведь Писания свидетельствуют обо Мне!

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Однако вы отказываетесь прийти ко Мне, чтобы получить жизнь.

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

— Мне не нужна слава от людей,

I receive not honour from men.

но Я знаю вас: в ваших сердцах нет любви к Богу.

But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

Я пришел во имя Моего Отца, и вы Меня не принимаете, но когда кто-либо другой придет во имя самого себя — его вы примете.

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Как вы можете поверить, когда вы ищете похвалы друг от друга, но не прилагаете никаких усилий, чтобы получить похвалу от единого Бога?

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

Не думайте, однако, что Я буду обвинять вас перед Отцом. Ваш обвинитель — Моисей, на которого вы возлагаете ваши надежды.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

Если бы вы верили Моисею, то верили бы и Мне, потому что Моисей писал обо Мне.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

Но если вы не верите тому, что написал Моисей, то как вы можете поверить тому, что Я говорю?

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
