Then Job answered and said:

Ѿвѣща́въ же їѡвъ, речѐ:

“Today also my complaint is bitter;a my hand is heavy on account of my groaning.

вѣ́мъ ѹ҆̀бо, ѩ҆́кѡ и҆з̾ рѹкѝ моеѧ̀ ѡ҆бличе́нїе моѐ є҆́сть, и҆ рѹка̀ є҆гѡ̀ тѧжка̀ бы́сть па́че моегѡ̀ воздыха́нїѧ.

Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his seat!

Кто̀ ѹ҆̀бо ѹ҆вѣ́сть, ѩ҆́кѡ ѡ҆брѧ́щѹ є҆го̀ и҆ прїидѹ̀ ко кончи́нѣ;

I would lay my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.

И҆ рекѹ̀ мо́й сѹ́дъ, ѹ҆ста́ же моѧ҄ и҆спо́лню ѡ҆бличе́нїѧ,

I would know what he would answer me and understand what he would say to me.

ѹ҆разѹмѣ́ю же и҆зцѣлє́нїѧ, ѩ҆̀же мѝ рече́тъ, и҆ ѡ҆щѹщѹ̀, что́ ми возвѣсти́тъ.

Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No; he would pay attention to me.

И҆ а҆́ще со мно́гою крѣ́постїю на́йдетъ на мѧ̀, посе́мъ же не воспрети́тъ мѝ.

There an upright man could argue with him, and I would be acquitted forever by my judge.

И҆́стина бо и҆ ѡ҆бличе́нїе ѿ негѡ̀: да и҆зведе́тъ же въ коне́цъ сѹ́дъ мо́й.

“Behold, I go forward, but he is not there, and backward, but I do not perceive him;

А҆́ще бо во пе́рвыхъ пойдѹ̀, ктомѹ̀ нѣ́смь: въ послѣ́днихъ же, ка́кѡ вѣ́мъ є҆го̀;

on the left hand when he is working, I do not behold him; he turns to the right hand, but I do not see him.

ѡ҆шѹ́юю творѧ́щѹ є҆мѹ̀, и҆ не разѹмѣ́хъ: ѡ҆бложи́тъ ѡ҆деснѹ́ю, и҆ не ѹ҆зрю̀.

But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.

Вѣ́сть бо ѹ҆жѐ пѹ́ть мо́й, и҆скѹси́ же мѧ̀ ѩ҆́кѡ зла́то.

My foot has held fast to his steps; I have kept his way and have not turned aside.

И҆зы́дѹ же въ за́повѣдехъ є҆гѡ̀, пѹти҄ бо є҆гѡ̀ сохрани́хъ, и҆ не ѹ҆клоню́сѧ ѿ за́повѣдїй є҆гѡ̀

I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.

и҆ не престѹплю̀, въ нѣ́дрѣхъ же мои́хъ сокры́хъ гл҃го́лы є҆гѡ̀.

But he is unchangeable,b and who can turn him back? What he desires, that he does.

А҆́ще же и҆ са́мъ сѹди́лъ та́кѡ, кто́ є҆сть рекі́й проти́вѹ є҆мѹ̀; са́мъ бо восхотѣ̀ и҆ сотворѝ.

For he will complete what he appoints for me, and many such things are in his mind.

Сегѡ̀ ра́ди ѡ҆ не́мъ тре́петенъ бы́хъ, наказѹ́емь же попеко́хсѧ ѡ҆ не́мъ:

Therefore I am terrified at his presence; when I consider, I am in dread of him.

сегѡ̀ ра́ди ѿ лица̀ є҆гѡ̀ потщѹ́сѧ, поѹчѹ́сѧ и҆ ѹ҆бою́сѧ ѿ негѡ̀.

God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me;

И҆ гд҇ь ѹ҆мѧгчи́лъ се́рдце моѐ, и҆ вседержи́тель потща́сѧ ѡ҆ мнѣ̀:

yet I am not silenced because of the darkness, nor because thick darkness covers my face.

не вѣ́дѣхъ бо, ѩ҆́кѡ на́йдетъ на мѧ̀ тма̀, пред̾ лице́мъ же мои́мъ покры́етъ мра́къ.
