Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said:

Ѿвѣща́въ же сѡфа́ръ мїне́йскїй, речѐ:

“Should a multitude of words go unanswered, and a man full of talk be judged right?

глаго́лѧй мно́гѡ, и҆ противоѹслы́шитъ: и҆лѝ многорѣ́чивъ мни́тсѧ бы́ти пра́веденъ; благослове́нъ рожде́нный ѿ жены̀ малолѣ́тенъ.

Should your babble silence men, and when you mock, shall no one shame you?

Не мно́гъ во словесѣ́хъ бѹ́ди: нѣ́сть бо противовѣща́ѧй тѝ.

For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in God’sa eyes.’

Не глаго́ли бо, ѩ҆́кѡ чи́стъ є҆́смь дѣ́лы и҆ безпоро́ченъ пред̾ ни́мъ:

But oh, that God would speak and open his lips to you,

но ка́кѡ гд҇ь возгл҃етъ къ тебѣ̀ и҆ ѿве́рзетъ ѹ҆стнѣ̀ своѝ съ тобо́ю;

and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding.b Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves.

Пото́мъ возвѣсти́тъ тѝ си́лѹ премѹ́дрости, ѩ҆́кѡ сѹгѹ́бъ бѹ́детъ въ си́хъ, ѩ҆̀же проти́вѹ тебє̀: и҆ тогда̀ ѹ҆разѹмѣ́еши, ѩ҆́кѡ достѡ́йнаѧ тебѣ̀ сбы́шасѧ ѿ гд҇а, и҆́миже согрѣши́лъ є҆сѝ,

“Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty?

И҆лѝ слѣ́дъ гд҇ень ѡ҆брѧ́щеши; и҆лѝ въ послѣ҄днѧѧ дости́глъ є҆сѝ, ѩ҆̀же сотворѝ вседержи́тель;

It is higher than heavenc — what can you do? Deeper than Sheol — what can you know?

Высо́ко не́бо, и҆ что̀ сотвори́ши; глѹбоча́е же сѹ́щихъ во а҆́дѣ что̀ вѣ́си;

Its measure is longer than the earth and broader than the sea.

не должа́е ли мѣ́ры земны́ѧ, и҆лѝ широты̀ морскі́ѧ;

If he passes through and imprisons and summons the court, who can turn him back?

А҆́ще же преврати́тъ всѧ҄, кто̀ рече́тъ є҆мѹ̀: что̀ сотвори́лъ є҆сѝ;

For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity, will he not consider it?

То́й бо вѣ́сть дѣла̀ беззако́нныхъ: ви́дѣвъ же нелѣ҄паѧ, не пре́зритъ.

But a stupid man will get understanding when a wild donkey’s colt is born a man!

Человѣ́къ же и҆́накѡ ѡ҆би́лѹетъ словесы̀: земны́й же рожде́нный ѿ жены̀ ра́венъ ѻ҆слѹ̀ пѹсты́нномѹ.

“If you prepare your heart, you will stretch out your hands toward him.

А҆́ще бо ты̀ чи́сто положи́лъ є҆сѝ се́рдце твоѐ, воздѣва́еши же рѹ́цѣ твоѝ къ немѹ̀,

If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and let not injustice dwell in your tents.

а҆́ще беззако́нно что̀ є҆́сть въ рѹкѹ̀ твоє́ю, дале́че сотворѝ є҆̀ ѿ тебє̀, непра́вда же въ жили́щи твое́мъ да не всели́тсѧ:

Surely then you will lift up your face without blemish; you will be secure and will not fear.

та́кѡ бо тѝ возсїѧ́етъ лицѐ, ѩ҆́коже вода̀ чиста̀: совлече́шисѧ же скве́рны, и҆ не ѹ҆бои́шисѧ,

You will forget your misery; you will remember it as waters that have passed away.

и҆ трѹда̀ забѹ́деши, ѩ҆́коже волны̀ мимоше́дшїѧ, и҆ не ѹ҆страши́шисѧ.

And your life will be brighter than the noonday; its darkness will be like the morning.

Моли́тва же твоѧ̀, а҆́ки денни́ца, и҆ па́че полѹ́дне возсїѧ́етъ тѝ жи́знь:

And you will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around and take your rest in security.

ѹ҆пова́ѧ же бѹ́деши, ѩ҆́кѡ бѹ́детъ тѝ наде́жда: ѿ тѹги́ же и҆ попече́нїѧ ѩ҆ви́тсѧ тѝ ми́ръ:

You will lie down, and none will make you afraid; many will court your favor.

ѹ҆поко́ишисѧ бо, и҆ не бѹ́детъ борѧ́й тѧ̀: премѣнѧ́ющїисѧ же мно́зи и҆́мѹтъ проси́ти тѧ̀,

But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last.”

спасе́нїе же ѡ҆ста́витъ и҆̀хъ: наде́жда бо и҆́хъ па́гѹба, ѻ҆́чи же нечести́выхъ и҆ста́ютъ.
