Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.

По дороге Иисус увидел человека, слепого от рождения.

And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Ученики спросили его: "Раби, кто согрешил — этот человек или его родители — что он родился слепым?"

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

Иисус ответил: "Его слепота не вызвана его грехами или грехами его родителей. Так случилось, чтобы в нём проявилась Божья сила.

I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

Пока не кончится день, мы не смеем перестать делать дело Пославшего меня; надвигается ночь, когда никто не сможет делать.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Пока я в мире, я свет мира".

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.

Сказав это, он плюнул на землю, сделал грязь из слюны, помазал ею глаза слепого

And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

и сказал ему: "Пойди, умойся в Купальне Силоам!" (Название означает "послал"). Итак, он пошёл и умылся и стал зрячим.

Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was [b]blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”

Его соседи и те, кто видели, как он просил милостыню, сказали: "Не тот ли это человек, который обычно сидел и просил милостыню?"

Some said, “This is he.” Others said, [c]“He is like him.” He said, “I am he.”

Некоторые говорили: "Да, это он", а другие возражали: "Нет, но он похож на того". Однако он сам сказал: "Да, это я".

Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

"Как же открылись твои глаза?" — спросили они его.

He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to [d]the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

Он ответил: "Человек по имени Иисус сделал грязь, помазал ею мои глаза и сказал мне: 'Пойди к Силоаму и умойся!' И я пошёл; и как только умылся, прозрел".

Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.”

Они спросили у него: "Где он?", и он ответил: "Я не знаю".

They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees.

Они привели прозревшего к фарисеям.

Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

А день тот, в который Иисус сделал грязь и открыл глаза слепому, был Суббота.

Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”

Фарисеи снова просили его рассказать, как он прозрел, и он сказал им: "Он помазал грязью мои глаза, затем я умылся, и вот я вижу".

Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not [e]keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.

При этом некоторые из фарисеи сказали: "Не от Бога этот человек, потому что он не соблюдает Субботу". Но другие возражали: "Как может грешный человек творить подобные чудеса?" И их мнения разошлись.

They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

Тогда они ещё раз обратились к прозревшему: "Ведь именно тебе он открыл глаза, что ты можешь сказать об этом человеке?" Тот ответил: "Он пророк".

But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.

Иудеяне, однако, не хотели верить, что раньше он был слеп, а теперь мог видеть, пока не позвали родителей того человека.

And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

Они спросили: "Ваш ли сын этот человек, о котором вы говорите, что он был рождён слепым? Почему же теперь он может видеть?"

His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

Его родители ответили: "Мы знаем, что это наш сын, и что он был рождён слепым.

but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”

Но мы не знаем, почему теперь он может видеть, и не знаем, кто открыл ему глаза. Спросите его — он достаточно взрослый и сам может говорить за себя!"

His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

Родители сказали так, потому что боялись иудеян, поскольку иудеяне уже договорились отлучать от синагоги всякого человека, который признает Иисуса Мессией.

Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”

Поэтому его родители сказали: "Он уже взрослый, спросите его".

So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”

Итак, во второй раз они позвали прозревшего и сказали ему: "Поклянись Богу, что будешь говорить правду! Мы знаем, что этот человек — грешник".

He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

Он ответил: "Я не знаю, грешник он или нет. Одно я знаю точно — я был слеп, а теперь я вижу".

Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”

Тогда они сказали ему: "Что он делал с тобой? Как он открыл твои глаза?"

He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”

"Я уже рассказывал вам, — ответил он, — но вы не слушали. Для чего вы снова хотите это услышать? Может быть вы тоже хотите стать его учениками?"

Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.

Тогда они рассердились на него. "Это ты можешь быть его учеником, — сказали они — а мы ученики Моисея!

We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”

Мы знаем, что с Моисеем разговаривал Бог, а что касается этого человека — мы не знаем, откуда он!"

The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes!

"Как странно, — ответил прозревший, — вы не знаете откуда он, видя, что он открыл мои глаза!

Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

Мы знаем, что Бог не слушает грешников, а только тех, кто боится его и исполняет его волю.

Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.

Никогда ещё за всю историю никто не слышал, чтобы кто-либо открыл глаза человека, рождённого слепым.

If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”

Если бы этот человек не был от Бога, он не смог бы сделать подобное!"

They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they [f]cast him out.

"Как ты, незаконнорожденный, смеешь учить нас!" — возмутились они и прогнали его.

Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of [g]God?”

Иисус услышал, что они выгнали того человека. Он отыскал его и сказал: "Веришь ли ты в Сына Человеческого?"

He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”

"Господин, — ответил он, — скажи мне, кто он, и я поверю в него".

And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”

Иисус сказал ему: "Ты видел его, он тот, кто сейчас разговаривает с тобой".

Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.

"Господин, я верю!" — сказал он и упал перед ним на колени.

And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”

Иисус сказал: "Я пришёл в этот мир судить, чтобы невидящие прозрели, а видящие ослепли".

Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”

Некоторые из фарисеев, бывшие рядом, услышали это и сказали ему: "Что же, мы тоже слепые?"

Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

Иисус ответил им: "Если бы вы были слепы, то не были бы виновны в грехе. Но раз вы говорите 'Мы зрячие', то вина остается на вас.
