In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

В начале было Слово, и Слово было с Богом, и Слово было Богом.

He was in the beginning with God.

Он был с Богом в начале.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Всё существующее произошло через Него, и без Него не существовало ничто из сотворённого.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

В нём была жизнь, и эта жизнь была светом человечества.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

Свет светит во тьме, и тьма не поглотила его.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

Был человек, посланный Богом, по имени Иоанн.

This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.

Он пришёл, чтобы свидетельствовать о Свете, чтобы через Него, всякий человек мог довериться Богу и быть верным Ему.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Сам он не был этим светом; нет, он пришёл свидетельствовать о свете.

That[b] was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Это был истинный Свет, освещающий всякого, приходящего в мир.

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

Он был в мире — мир произошёл через Него — и всё же мир не знал Его.

He came to His [c]own, and His [d]own did not receive Him.

Он пришёл в свою родную страну, и всё же его собственный народ не принял его.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Но всех, кто принял его, всех, кто поверил ему и его власти, он наделил правом стать детьми Бога,

who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

не по кровному родству, не в результате физического влечения или намерения человека, но по желанию Бога.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Слово стало человеком и жило с нами, и мы видели его Шхину, Шхину единственного сына у Отца, полного благодати и истины.

John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me [f]is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ”

Иоанн свидетельствовал о нём, когда объявил во всеуслышание: "Вот человек, о котором я говорил: 'Идущий за мной больше меня, потому что он существовал до меня'".

[g]And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

Мы все приняли от его полноты, да, благодать на благодать.

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Поскольку Пятикнижие было дано через Моисея; благодать и истина пришли через Мессию Иисуса.

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten [h]Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

Никто никогда не видел Бога; но единственный и неповторимый Сын, тождественный Богу и находящийся рядом с Отцом — он помог постичь Его.

Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

Вот свидетельство Иоанна: когда иудеяне послали священников и левитов из Иерусалима, чтобы спросить его: "Кто ты?",

He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”

он прямо и ясно сказал: "Я не Мессия".

And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”

"Тогда кто же ты?" — спросили они его. "Ты ли Илия?" "Нет", — ответил он. "Ты ли тот 'пророк', которого мы ожидаем?" "Нет", — ответил он.

Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”

Тогда они сказали ему: "Кто ты? — скажи нам, чтобы мы ответили людям, которые послали нас. Что ты можешь сказать о себе?"

He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”

Он ответил словами пророка Исайи: "Я голос кричащего: 'В пустыне выпрямите путь Господу'."

Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.

Некоторые из посланных были фарисеями.

And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

Они спросили его: "Если ты не Мессия, и не Илия, и не 'пророк', тогда почему ты проводишь водное погружение?"

John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.

Иоанн ответил им: "Я погружаю людей в воду, но среди вас стоит тот, которого вы не знаете.

It is He who, coming after me, [i]is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.”

Он — идущий за мной, я не достоин даже развязать ему сандалии!"

These things were done in [j]Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Всё же это происходило в Вифании, к востоку от Иордана, где Иоанн проводил водное погружение.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

На следующий день Иоанн увидел Иисуса, подходящего к нему и сказал: "Взгляните! Божий ягнёнок, берущий на себя грех мира!

This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who [k]is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

Это его я имел в виду, когда сказал: 'Вслед за мной придёт тот, кто больше меня, потому что он существовал до меня'.

I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.”

Сам я не знал, кто он, но я пришёл проводить водное погружение для того, чтобы он стал известен Израилю".

And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

Тогда Иоанн засвидетельствовал: "Я видел Дух, подобно голубю слетающий с небес и остающийся на нём.

I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

Сам я не знал, кто он, но пославший меня проводить погружение в воде сказал мне: "Тот, на которого сойдёт и на ком останется Дух, и есть погружающий в Святого Духа".

And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

И я видел и засвидетельствовал, что это Божий Сын".

Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.

На следующий день Иоанн вновь стоял с двумя учениками.

And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”

Увидев проходящего мимо Иисуса, он сказал: "Смотрите! Божий ягнёнок!"

The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Двое учеников услышали это и пошли за Иисусом.

Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are You staying?”

Иисус обернулся и увидел, что они следуют за ним, и спросил у них: "Что вы ищете?" Они сказали ему: "Раби!" (что значит "Учитель!") "Где ты остановился?"

He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).

Он ответил им: "Идите и посмотрите". Итак, они пошли и посмотрели то место, где он жил, и остались у него до конца дня — было уже около четырёх часов пополудни.

One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Один из двоих, слышавших Иоанна и последовавших за Иисусом, был Андрей, брат Симона Петра.

He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the [l]Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).

Первым делом он отыскал своего брата Симона и сказал ему: "Мы нашли Мессию!" (Слово означает "Помазанник")

And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of [m]Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, [n]A Stone).

Он привёл его к Иисусу. Глядя на него, Иисус сказал: "Ты Симон Бар-Йоханан; ты будешь зваться Петром". (Имя означает "камень")

The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.”

На следующий день, решив отправиться в Галилею, Иисус нашёл Филиппа и сказал: "Следуй за мной!"

Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Филипп был из Вифсаиды, города, в котором жили Андрей и Петр.

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote — Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Филипп разыскал Нафанаила и сказал ему: "Мы нашли того, о котором писал в Пятикнижии Моисей, а также Пророки — это Иисус, сын Иосифа из Назарета!"

And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Нафанаил ответил ему: "Назарет? Может ли что-либо доброе прийти оттуда?" "Пойдем и увидишь", — сказал ему Филипп.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

Иисус увидел приближающегося Нафанаила и сказал о нём: "Вот подлинный сын Израиля — в нём нет ничего притворного!"

Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Нафанаил сказал ему: "Откуда ты меня знаешь?" Иисус ответил ему: "До того, как Филипп позвал тебя, когда ты был под смоковницей, я видел тебя".

Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

Нафанаил сказал: "Раби, ты Сын Божий! Ты Царь Израиля!"

Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”

Иисус ответил ему: "Ты поверил этому только потому, что я сказал тебе, что видел тебя под смоковницей? Ты увидишь и более великое!"

And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter[o] you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

И он сказал ему: "Да, именно так! Говорю вам, вы увидите открытые небеса и ангелов Божьих, поднимающихся и спускающихся к Сыну Человеческому!"
