Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.

Иисус шел и по дороге увидел слепца, слепого с рождения.

And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Ученики стали спрашивать: «Рабби! Кто согрешил: он сам или его родители? Почему он родился слепым?».

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

Иисус ответил: «Ни он сам, ни его родители здесь ни при чем. Он слеп, чтобы через него явилась людям Божья рука.

I[a] must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

Пока светит день, нужно трудиться трудами Того, кто послал Меня. Близится ночь. Ночью никто не пойдет трудиться.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Пока Я в мире, Я — свет миру».

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.

Сказав это, Он плюнул в пыль, скатал комок грязи и помазал слепому глаза.

And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.

И говорит: «Пойди умойся в бассейне Силоам» (это значит «Посланец»). Тот пошел, умылся и вернулся зрячим.

Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was [b]blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”

Соседи и все, кто знал его нищим слепцом, стали говорить: «Тот сидел и просил здесь милостыню. А этот, разве это он?».

Some said, “This is he.” Others said, [c]“He is like him.” He said, “I am he.”

Одни сказали: «Конечно, он», а другие: «Да нет, просто похож». А сам он говорил: «Это был я».

Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

У него спросили: «Как случилось, что ты стал видеть?».

He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to [d]the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

Он отвечал: «Человек по имени Иисус скатал комок грязи, помазал мне глаза и говорит: “Пойди умойся в бассейне Силоам.” Я пошел, умылся и стал видеть».

Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.”

Тогда спрашивают его: «Где Он?». Исцеленный ответил: «Не знаю».

They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees.

Прозревшего привели к фарисеям.

Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

А все из-за того, что Иисус скатал грязь и вернул зрение слепому в субботу.

Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”

Фарисеи стали допытываться, как прозрел слепой. Прозревший сказал: «Он помазал мне глаза грязью, я умылся и стал видеть».

Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not [e]keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.

Тогда среди фарисеев одни стали говорить: «Этот человек не от Бога, он субботу не соблюдает». А другие сказали: «Такие чудеса простому грешнику не под силу». И заспорили.

They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

И опять спрашивают его: «Как думаешь, кому ты обязан зрением? Кто Он?». Прозревший отвечал: «Пророк».

But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.

Они никак не могли поверить, что слепой теперь видит. Послали за родителями прозревшего.

And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

Спрашивают их: «Точно ли это ваш сын? Он ли, по вашим словам, родился слепым? Как получилось, что он теперь видит?».

His parents answered them and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;

Родители отвечали: «Мы знаем, что это наш сын и что он родился слепым,

but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”

Но как он мог сделаться зрячим, не знаем. И кто дал ему зрение, мы тоже не знаем. Спросите у него самого: он не мальчик, скажет сам».

His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

Родители отвечали так из боязни перед верхами иудеев: те постановили отлучить от синагоги всякого, кто признает Иисуса Христом.

Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”

Поэтому родители так и сказали: «Наш сын не мальчик, спросите у него самого».

So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”

Во второй раз привели прозревшего. Ему говорят: «Хвали Бога! Мы знаем, что тот человек — грешник».

He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

Исцеленный ответил: «Грешник или нет, не знаю. Одно знаю: я был слеп, а теперь вижу».

Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”

Спрашивают его: «Что Он сделал с тобой? Как ты стал зрячим?».

He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”

Он отвечал: «Я уже говорил вам — вы не слушали. Что еще вы надеетесь узнать? Не хотите ли и вы сделаться Его учениками?».

Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.

Тогда они ополчились на него, стали бранить: «Это ты Его ученик, а мы — ученики Моисея.

We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do not know where He is from.”

Мы знаем, что с Моисеем говорил Бог, а откуда этот твой человек, мы не знаем».

The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes!

Прозревший ответил: «Это интересно. Вы не знаете, откуда Он. А как же Он дал мне зрение?

Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

Всем известно, что грешнику Бог не помогает, а тому человеку помогает, кто Бога чтит и делает, как велит Бог.

Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.

Слыханное ли дело, чтобы слепорожденный прозрел усилием другого человека?

If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”

Не будь Он от Бога, ничего бы у Него не получилось».

They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they [f]cast him out.

На это они говорят Ему: «Ты родился весь в грехах — и смеешь нас учить?!» — и прогнали его.

Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of [g]God?”

Иисус узнал, что они прогнали исцеленного, разыскал его и говорит: «Веришь в Сына человеческого?».

He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”

Тот отвечал: «Кто Он, сударь? Поверю, только скажи!».

And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”

Иисус говорит ему: «Сначала ты увидел Его, а сейчас Он разговаривает с тобой».

Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.

Прозревший сказал: «Верю, Господи!» — и пал Ему в ноги.

And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”

Тогда Иисус сказал: «Я пришел в этот мир вершить суд. У Меня слепые прозреют и зрячие ослепнут».

Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”

Вокруг стояли фарисеи. Они услышали это и говорят Иисусу: «Вот как? Уж мы-то не слепы!».

Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.

Иисус отвечал: «Нет, будь вы слепы, на вас не было бы греха. Но вы говорите: “Мы видим,” — стало быть, ваш грех на вас остается».
