When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.

Закончив молитву, Иисус перешел с учениками на другую сторону долины Кедрон, где был сад. В этот сад Он и привел Своих учеников.

And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.

Иисус часто приводил их сюда. Это место знал и Иуда, который готовил предательство.

Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

Для этого Иуда пришел сюда с отрядом солдат. И еще первосвященники и фарисеи дали ему стражников из Храма. Все пришли с факелами, фонарями и оружием.

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?”

Иисус знал все, что с Ним будет. Он шагнул навстречу и спросил: «Кто вам нужен?».

They answered Him, “Jesus [a]of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.

Ему отвечали: «Иисус Назарянин». Иисус говорит им: «Я Есмь». Иуда предатель стоял по ту сторону вместе с ними.

Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

Когда Иисус сказал: «Я Есмь», они попятились и пали лицом в землю.

Then He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Он еще раз спрашивает: «Кто вам нужен?». Они говорят: «Иисус Назарянин».

Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”

Иисус ответил: «Я вам уже сказал: Я Есмь. Вы ищете Меня. Этих не трогайте».

that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.”

Он сказал это, чтобы исполнились Его слова, сказанные прежде: «Из тех, кого Ты Мне дал, Я не потерял никого».

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

Симон Петр обнажил меч, ударил и отсек правое ухо рабу архиерея. Раба звали Малх.

So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”

Иисус сказал Петру: «Вложи меч в ножны. Могу ли Я не выпить чашу из руки Отца?».

Then the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.

Солдаты во главе с командиром и иудейские стражники схватили Иисуса и связали.

And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year.

Привели Его сначала к Анне, тестю Кайафы, тогдашнего архиерея.

Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was [b]expedient that one man should die for the people.

Это был тот самый Кайафа, который подсказал иудейскому руководству мысль, что лучше пусть умрет один человек, чем весь народ.

And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another[c] disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.

Симон Петр и еще один ученик шли следом за Иисусом. Этот ученик был вхож к архиерею — он вошел во двор вместе с Иисусом.

But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in.

Петр остался стоять снаружи у ворот. Ученик, который был вхож к архиерею, вернулся, переговорил с привратницей и повел Петра во двор.

Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, “You are not also one of this Man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.”

И тут раба-привратница говорит Петру: «А ты, часом, не ученик того человека?». Он отвечал: «Нет».

Now the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.

Было холодно. Во дворе вокруг костра стояли и грелись рабы и стражники. Вместе с ними стоял и грелся Петр.

The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.

Архиерей допрашивал Иисуса о Его учениках и учении.

Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where [d]the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.

Иисус сказал: «Я говорил с людьми открыто, не таясь. Я целыми днями учил народ и в синагоге, и в Храме — в самых людных местах. Мое учение ни для кого не тайна.

Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.”

Почему ты спрашиваешь Меня? Спрашивай тех, кто Меня слушал. Они скажут, о чем Я говорил».

And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck[e] Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?”

Как только это было сказано, один из стражников, стоявших рядом, ударил Иисуса по лицу и сказал: «Ты как отвечаешь архиерею?».

Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Иисус говорит ему: «Если Я неправ, скажи, в чем Моя неправда. А если прав, зачем бьешь Меня?».

Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

Анна отослал Иисуса, связанного, к архиерею Кайафе.

Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, “You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not!”

Симон Петр стоял и грелся у костра. Ему говорят: «А ты, часом, не Его ученик?». Но Петр не признался, сказал: «Я? Нет!».

One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”

Один из рабов архиерея, родственник того самого, кому Петр отсек ухо, говорит: «А это не тебя ли я видел с Ним в саду?».

Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

Петр и тут не признался. И сразу вслед за этим пропел петух.

Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the [f]Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.

От Кайафы Иисуса повели в преторию. Было раннее утро. Чтобы не оскверняться, во дворец заходить не стали, иначе нельзя было бы есть пасху.

Pilate then went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

Пилат сам вышел к ним. Он спросил: «В чем вы обвиняете этого человека?».

They answered and said to him, “If He were not [g]an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.”

Они ответили: «Это злодей. Иначе бы мы не привели Его к тебе».

Then Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,”

Пилат сказал: «Ведите Его обратно и судите сами по своему Закону». Но иудеи сказали: «У нас запрещена смертная казнь».

that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.

Это произошло, чтобы Иисус был потом предан такой смерти, какую предсказал.

Then Pilate entered the [h]Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

Тогда Пилат вернулся во дворец, велел подвести к себе Иусуса и говорит Ему: «Это Ты иудейский царь?».

Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?”

Иисус отвечал: «Ты от себя это говоришь или повторяешь чужие слова?».

Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”

Пилат говорит: «По-твоему, я иудей? Твой народ и первосвященники, вот кто привел Тебя ко мне. Что Ты сделал?».

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

Иисус отвечал: «Мое Царство — не от мира сего. Будь от мира сего Мое Царство, Мои подвластные отбили бы Меня у иудеев. Нет, Мое Царство не отсюда».

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

Тогда Пилат говорит Ему: «Значит, Ты все-таки царь?». Иисус отвечал: «Вот и ты говоришь, что Я — царь. Я — свидетель истины. Для этого Я родился, для этого пришел в мир. Кто хочет знать истину, идет на Мой голос».

Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.

Пилат спрашивает Его: «Что это — истина?». Спрашивает и опять выходит к толпе и говорит: «Никакой Его вины я ни в чем не вижу.

“But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Do you therefore want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

А только есть у вас обычай: на Пасху, по вашему желанию, одного отпускаю. Хотите, отпущу на этот раз иудейского царя?».

Then they all cried again, saying, “Not this Man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.

В ответ они закричали: «Не Его! Нет! Варавву!». Варавва был разбойник.
