Все израильтяне собрались к Давиду в Хеврон и сказали: — Мы — твоя плоть и кровь.

Then all Israel gathered together to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh.

Даже прежде, когда нашим царем был Саул, ты водил израильтян в бой. И Господь, твой Бог, сказал тебе: «Ты будешь пасти Мой народ, Израиль, и станешь его правителем».

In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And the Lord your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”

Когда все старейшины Израиля пришли к царю Давиду в Хеврон, он заключил с ними в Хевроне союз перед Господом, и они помазали[66] Давида в цари над Израилем, как и обещал через Самуила Господь.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

Давид и все израильтяне пошли на Иерусалим (то есть Иевус). Иевусеи, жившие там,

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, that is, Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

сказали Давиду: — Ты не войдешь сюда. Но Давид захватил укрепление Сион, что ныне Город Давида.

The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.

Давид сказал: — Кто ударит по иевусеям первым, станет главой войска. Первым поднялся Иоав, сын Саруи, и получил командование.

David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and commander.” And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, so he became chief.

Давид обосновался в укреплении, и потому оно стало называться Городом Давида.

And David lived in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.

Он обстроил его кругом от Милло[67] до окружной стены, а Иоав отстроил остальные части города.

And he built the city all around from the Millo in complete circuit, and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

Давид становился всё сильнее и сильнее, потому что с ним был Господь Сил.

And David became greater and greater, for the Lord of hosts was with him.

Вот вожди воинов Давида, которые вместе со всем Израилем своей силой поддержали его в его царстве, чтобы воцарить его, как обещал Господь.

Now these are the chiefs of David’s mighty men, who gave him strong support in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

This is an account of David’s mighty men: Jashobeam, a Hachmonite, was chief of the three.a He wielded his spear against 300 whom he killed at one time.

После него в числе троих воинов был Элеазар, сын ахохитянина Додо.

And next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite.

Он был с Давидом в Пас-Даммиме[69], когда филистимляне собрались там для битвы. Там было поле, засеянное ячменем. Войско стало разбегаться перед филистимлянами,

He was with David at Pas-dammim when the Philistines were gathered there for battle. There was a plot of ground full of barley, and the men fled from the Philistines.

но эти воины встали посреди поля, защитили его и перебили филистимлян, и Господь даровал им великую победу.

But he took hisb stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and killed the Philistines. And the Lord saved them by a great victory.

Трое из тридцати вождей пришли к Давиду к скале у пещеры Адуллам, когда войско филистимлян стояло лагерем в долине Рефаим.

Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David at the cave of Adullam, when the army of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

Давид тогда был в укреплении, а войска филистимлян в Вифлееме.

David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem.

Давида томила жажда, и он сказал: — О, если бы кто-нибудь принес мне попить из колодца у вифлеемских ворот!

And David said longingly, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!”

Тогда те трое пробились через филистимский лагерь, зачерпнули воды из колодца у вифлеемских ворот и принесли Давиду. Но он отказался пить и вылил воду как приношение Господу.

Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David. But David would not drink it. He poured it out to the Lord

— Сохрани меня Бог сделать это! — сказал он. — Разве я стану пить кровь этих людей?! Ведь они принесли воду, рискуя своей жизнью! — И он не стал пить. Такие подвиги совершили трое этих воинов.

and said, “Far be it from me before my God that I should do this. Shall I drink the lifeblood of these men? For at the risk of their lives they brought it.” Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

Брат Иоава Авишай, был главой троих. Он с копьем сражался против трехсот человек, перебил их всех и прославился наравне с теми тремя.

Now Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the thirty.c And he wielded his spear against 300 men and killed them and won a name beside the three.

Он был в большем почете,[70] чем те трое, и стал их вождем, хотя сам не был одним из них.

He was the most renownedd of the thirtye and became their commander, but he did not attain to the three.

Беная, сын Иодая, был доблестным воином из Кавцеила, совершившим великие подвиги. Он сразил двух сильнейших воинов[71] из Моава. Ещё он спустился в ров в снежный день и убил там льва.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant manf of Kabzeel, a doer of great deeds. He struck down two heroes of Moab. He also went down and struck down a lion in a pit on a day when snow had fallen.

Он также сразил огромного египтянина, который был 5 локтей[72] ростом. У египтянина в руке было копье, большое, как ткацкий навой, а Беная вышел против него с палкой. Он вырвал копье из руки египтянина и убил его этим же копьем.

And he struck down an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubitsg tall. The Egyptian had in his hand a spear like a weaver’s beam, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff and snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.

Таковы были подвиги Бенаи, сына Иодая. Он прославился наравне с теми тремя.

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and won a name beside the three mighty men.

Он был знаменит среди тридцати, но славой с теми тремя не равнялся. Давид поставил его начальником своей стражи.

He was renowned among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three. And David set him over his bodyguard.

Могучими воинами были: Асаил, брат Иоава, Элханан, сын Додо из Вифлеема,

The mighty men were Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

хародитянин[73] Шаммот, пелонитянин Хелец,

Shammoth of Harod,h Helez the Pelonite,

Ира, сын Иккеша из Текоа, Авиезер из Анатота,

Ira the son of Ikkesh of Tekoa, Abiezer of Anathoth,

хушатянин Сивхай, ахохитянин Илай,

Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

нетофитянин Магарай, Хелед, сын Бааны нетофитянина,

Maharai of Netophah, Heled the son of Baanah of Netophah,

Иттай, сын Рибая, из Гивы, что в земле Вениамина, пирафонянин Беная,

Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the people of Benjamin, Benaiah of Pirathon,

Хурай с рек Гааша, арбатитянин Авиил,

Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

Азмавет из Бахарума, шаалбонитянин Элияхба,

Azmaveth of Baharum, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

сыновья гизонитянина Гашема, Ионафан, сын араритянина Шаге,

Hashemi the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

Ахиам, сын араритянина Сахара, Элифал, сын Ура,

Ahiam the son of Sachar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,

мехератитянин Хефер, пелонитянин Ахия,

Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

Hezro of Carmel, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai of Beeroth, the armor-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,

Адина, сын Шизы, из рода Рувима (он был вождем рувимитян, и с ним было тридцать воинов),

Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a leader of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,

Ханан, сын Маахи, митнитянин Иосафат,

Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,

аштератит Уззия, Шама и Иеил, сыновья Хофама из Ароера,

Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,

Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,

Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
