И продолжил Иов свою речь:

And Job continued his parable and said,

«Верно, что жив Бог, лишивший меня справедливости. И как верно то, что жив Всемогущий, верно и то, что Он заставил меня горькую чашу испить.

[As] God liveth, who hath taken away my right, and the Almighty, who hath embittered my soul,

Но пока во мне будет жизнь и в ноздрях моих Его дыхание,

All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of +God is in my nostrils,

уста мои неправды не обронят, язык мой не запятнает себя ложью.

My lips shall not speak unrighteousness, nor my tongue utter deceit!

Пока я не умру, я не признаю за вами правоты, и непорочности моей не изменю.

Be it far from me that I should justify you; till I die I will not remove my blamelessness from me.

Я неотступно буду отстаивать мою праведность, пока живу, и не буду знать угрызений совести.

My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart reproacheth [me] not one of my days.

Да будут враги мои наказаны словно грешники, пусть будут покараны противники мои!

Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.

На что надеяться неверному, когда Господь отнимет его жизнь?

For what is the hope of the ungodly, when [God] cutteth him off, when +God taketh away his soul?

Слышит ли Господь его мольбы, когда к нему несчастье подступает?

Will God hear his cry when distress cometh upon him?

Найдёт ли он во Всемогущем наслаждение, будет ли призывать Бога во все времена?

Doth he delight himself in the Almighty? will he at all times call upon +God?

Я открою вам могущество Господа, я не скрою Его путей.

I will teach you concerning the hand of God; what is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

Вы видели всё это сами! Так к чему же все эти слова пустые?

Behold, ye yourselves have all seen [it]; and why are ye thus altogether vain?

Вот уготованное Господом для грешников, вот что достанется жестоким от Бога Всемогущего:

This is the portion of the wicked man with God, and the heritage of the violent, which they receive from the Almighty: --

у злого человека может быть много детей, но все они погибнут на войне, и никогда у них не будет вдоволь хлеба.

If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword, and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread;

Все его дети умрут, и вдовы по нему не будут горевать.

Those that remain of him shall be buried by death, and his widows shall not weep.

Злодей накопит серебро, но для него оно как пыль, и столько соберёт одежд, что для него они как грязь.

Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay;

Пусть собирает он одежду, а праведники пусть её наденут, и серебро его невинные получат.

He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on; and the innocent shall divide the silver.

Он строит дом непрочный, словно из паутины, иль как сторожа шатёр.

He buildeth his house as the moth, and as a booth that a keeper maketh.

Богатым он ложится спать, но неимущим он проснётся, глаза откроет — всё пропало.

He lieth down rich, but will do so no more; he openeth his eyes, and he is not.

Как наводнение, его настигнет ужас, как будто буря сметает ночью всё на своём пути.

Terrors overtake him like waters; a whirlwind stealeth him away in the night.

Восточный ветер подует — и нет его, унесён из дома навсегда.

The east wind carrieth him away and he is gone; and as a storm it hurleth him out of his place.

Ураган обрушится на него нещадно, и не сможет он убежать от бушующей стихии.

And [God] shall cast upon him and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.

С насмешкой рукоплещут люди и свистят, когда злобные бегут из своего дома».

[Men] shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
