Первое послание к Фессалоникийцам святого апостола Павла

Что же касается времён и сроков, братья, нет нужды писать к вам;

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

ибо вы сами точно знаете, что День Господень так грядет, как вор ночью,

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

Когда будут говорить: мир и безопасность, — тогда внезапно настигнет их гибель, как мука родами постигает имеющую во чреве, и никак не избегнут.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Но вы, братья, не во тьме, чтобы День вас захватил, как вор.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Ибо все вы сыны света и сыны дня. Мы не сыны ночи, ни тьмы.

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Итак, не будем спать, как прочие, но будем бодрствовать и трезвиться.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Ибо спящие спят ночью и упивающиеся упиваются ночью;

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

но мы, будучи сынами дня, будем трезвиться, облекшись в броню веры и любви и в шлем надежды спасения,

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

потому что не определил нас Бог на гнев, но к получению спасения чрез Господа нашего Иисуса Христа,

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

умершего за нас, чтобы мы, бодрствуем ли, спим ли, вместе с Ним жили.

Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Потому утешайте друг друга и назидайте один другого, как вы и делаете.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Просим же вас, братья, отдавать должное трудящимся между вами и предстоятельствующим у вас в Господе и вразумляющим вас,

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

и почитать их преимущественно с любовью за их дело. Будьте в мире между собой.

And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Призываем же вас, братья: вразумляйте бесчинных, ободряйте малодушных, поддерживайте слабых, будьте долготерпеливы ко всем.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Смотрите, чтобы кто кому не воздал злом за зло, но всегда стремитесь к добру друг для друга и для всех.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Всегда радуйтесь.

Rejoice evermore.

Непрестанно молитесь.

Pray without ceasing.

Всегда благодарите, ибо это есть воля Божия во Христе Иисусе о вас.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Духа не угашайте.

Quench not the Spirit.

Пророчества не уничижайте.

Despise not prophesyings.

Но всё испытывайте; доброго держитесь.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

От всякого рода зла воздерживайтесь.

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Сам же Бог мира да освятит вас всецело, и всё ваше естество, дух и душа и тело, да будет безупречно соблюдено в пришествие Господа нашего Иисуса Христа.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Верен Призывающий вас. Который и совершит.

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Братья, молитесь о нас.

Brethren, pray for us.

Приветствуйте всех братьев святым поцелуем.

Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

Заклинаю вас Господом прочитать это послание всем братьям.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

Благодать Господа нашего Иисуса Христа с вами.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. { The first epistle unto the Thessalonians was written from Athens. }
