When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

Когда Иисус узнал, что до фарисеев дошли слухи о том, что он приобретает больше учеников, чем Иоанн, и погружает их в воде

(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

(хотя сам Иисус не проводил водного погружения, это делали его ученики),

He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

он покинул Иудею и направился обратно в Галилею.

And he must needs go through Samaria.

То есть ему нужно было проходить через Самарию.

Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

В Самарии он подошёл к городу под названием Сихарь, неподалёку от поля, которое Иаков отдал своему сыну Иосифу.

Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

Там находился Колодец Иакова; и вот, устав от пути, Иисус сел у колодца; приближался полдень.

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

Какая-то жительница Самарии пришла набрать воды, и Иисус обратился к ней: "Дай мне попить".

(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

(Его ученики пошли в город, чтобы купить пищу)

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Эта жительница Самарии сказала ему: "Как можешь ты, иудей, просить воды у меня, жительницы Самарии?" (Так как иудеи не общаются с жителями Самарии)

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Иисус ответил ей: "Если бы ты знала Божий дар, то есть если бы ты знала, кто говорит тебе: 'Дай мне воды', то сама просила бы его, и он дал бы тебе живой воды".

The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

Она сказала ему: "Господин, у тебя нет ведра, а колодец глубок. Где же ты возьмёшь эту 'живую воду'?

Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

Ты ведь не более велик, чем наш отец Иаков? Он дал нам этот колодец и пил из него сам, а также его сыновья и скот".

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

Иисус ответил: "Любой человек, который будет пить эту воду, снова захочет пить,

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

но тот, кто выпьет воды, которую я дам ему, больше никогда не будет жаждать! Наоборот, вода, которую я дам ему, станет источником внутри него самого, который будет бить ключом в вечную жизнь!"

The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

"Господин, дай мне этой воды, — сказала ему женщина, — чтобы мне не чувствовать жажды и не приходить всякий раз сюда за водой".

Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

Он сказал ей: "Пойди позови своего мужа и приходите сюда".

The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

Она ответила: "У меня нет мужа". Иисус сказал ей: "Ты права, у тебя нет мужа!

For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

В прошлом у тебя было пятеро мужей, и ты не замужем за тем мужчиной, с которым живёшь сейчас! Ты сказала правду!"

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

"Господин, я вижу, ты пророк, — ответила женщина. —

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Наши отцы поклонялись на этой горе, а вы говорите, что поклоняться нужно в Иерусалиме".

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Иисус сказал: "Женщина, поверь мне, приходит время, когда вы не будете поклоняться Отцу ни на этой горе, ни в Иерусалиме.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Вы не знаете, чему поклоняетесь; мы знаем, чему мы поклоняемся, потому что спасение приходит от иудеев.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Но наступает время — и по сути, оно уже наступило — когда истинно поклоняющиеся будут поклоняться Отцу в духе и истине, потому что Отец желает, чтобы ему поклонялись именно такие люди.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Бог — это Дух; и поклоняющиеся должны поклоняться ему духовно и истинно".

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

Женщина ответила: "Я знаю, что придёт Мессия" (то есть "помазанник"). "Когда он придёт, он объяснит нам всё".

Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

Иисус сказал ей: "Я, говорящий с тобой, и есть он".

And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

Как раз в тот момент подошли его ученики. Они удивились, что он разговаривает с какой-то женщиной, но никто из них не сказал: "Чего ты хочешь?" или "Почему ты говоришь с ней?"

The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

Тогда женщина оставила свой кувшин, вернулась в город и сказала людям:

Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

"Пойдёмте, посмотрим на человека, который рассказал мне всё, что я делала в своей жизни. Может быть, он Мессия?"

Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

Они вышли из города и пошли к нему.

In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

Тем временем ученики убеждали Иисуса: "Раби, съешь что-нибудь".

But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

Но он ответил: "У меня есть пища, о которой вы не знаете".

Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

При этом ученики спрашивали друг друга: "Может быть кто-нибудь принёс ему поесть?"

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Иисус сказал им: "Моя пища — делать то, чего желает пославший меня, и довести до конца его дело.

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Нет ли у вас поговорки: 'Ещё четыре месяца, а затем жатва'? Итак, я хочу сказать вам: откройте глаза и взгляните на поля! Они уже созрели для жатвы!

And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Жнущий получает заработанное им и собирает плоды для вечной жизни, чтобы и жнущий и сеявший имели общую радость —

And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

потому что в этом случае оказывается верной поговорка: 'Один сеет, другой жнёт'.

I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Я послал вас собирать урожай с того, над чем вы не трудились. Другие исполнили свой тяжкий труд, а вы пользовались результатами их труда".

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

Многие люди из этого города в Самарии поверили в него благодаря свидетельству женщины: "Он рассказал мне всё, что я сделала".

So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

И когда эти люди из Самарии пришли к нему, они попросили его остаться у них. Он оставался с ними два дня,

And many more believed because of his own word;

и многие другие поверили по его словам.

And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Они сказали той женщине: "Мы верим не потому, что ты нам рассказала, но так как слышали всё сами. И теперь мы убедились, что этот человек — Спаситель мира".

Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

После двух дней, проведённых там, он продолжил свой путь оттуда в Галилею.

For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.

Иисус сам говорил: "Пророка не почитают в его собственной стране".

Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

Но когда он пришёл в Галилею, люди тех мест приняли его тепло, потому что они видели всё сделанное им в Иерушалаиме, ибо они тоже были там.

So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

Он вновь направился в Кану в Галилее, где превратил воду в вино. Там был офицер императорской службы, а его сын находившийся в Капернауме, был болен.

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

Этот человек, услышав, что Иисус вернулся из Иудеи в Галилею, пошёл и попросил его исцелить его сына, так как тот был при смерти.

Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

Иисус ответил: "До тех пор, пока вы не увидите знамений и чудес, вы не поверите!"

The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

Офицер сказал ему: "Господин, пойди, иначе мой сын умрёт".

Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

Иисус ответил: "Иди, сын твой жив". Этот человек поверил сказанному ему Иисусом, и ушёл.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

Когда он спускался, его встретили слуги и сказали, что его сын жив.

Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

Он спросил их, в котором часу ему стало лучше; и они ответили: "Жар спал вчера в час дня".

So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

Отец знал, что именно в это время Иисус сказал ему: "Твой сын жив"; и поверил он и все его домочадцы.

This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Это было второе знамение, которое сотворил Иисус после того, как вернулся из Иудеи в Галилею.
