Прыказі Салямона Давідзёнка, караля Ізраельскага,

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

Каб пазнаць мудрасьць а навуку, цяміць словы розуму,

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

Каб дзяржаць навуку добрага розуму, справядлівасьці, суду а пасьцівасьці,

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

Даць простым кемнасьць, маладзёну — веданьне а разважнасьць;

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

Мудры пачуе й павялічыцца веданьне ягонае, і разумны асягае ўменьне,

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Каб уцяміць прыказь а атумекі, словы мудрыцоў а загадкі іхныя.

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

Боязьнь СПАДАРОВА — пачатак веданьня. Мудрасьцяй а навукаю дурныя грэбуюць.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Сыну мой! слухай навукі айца свайго і не пакідай навучаньня маці свае;

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Бо яны — вянок зычлівасьці на галаву тваю і прыборы на шыю тваю.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Сыну мой! калі грэшнікі надзяць цябе, не гадзіся.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

Калі яны скажуць: «Хадзі з намі, будзем цікаваць на кроў, зробім засадку бяз прычыны на нявіннага;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

Праглыніма іх жывых, як шэоль, і цэлых, як тых, што зыходзяць да долу;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Усялякую дарагую маемасьць знойдзем, напоўнім дамы нашы глабаньням;

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

Кінь жэрабя свае сярод нас, майма ўсі адзін капшук».

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

Сыну мой, не хадзі ў дарогу зь імі, узьдзерж нагу сваю ад сьцежкі іхнае;

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

Бо ногі іхныя бягуць да благога і барзьдзяць разьліваць кроў.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

Дарма расьцягаюць сеці на аччу якое-колечы птушкі;

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

А яны цікуюць на сваю собскую кроў, робяць засаду на душы свае.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

Гэткія сьцежкі кажнага прагавітага на чужую маемасьць: яна адбірае жыцьцё тым, хто адбярэць яе.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

Мудрасьць вонках голасна гукае, на вуліцах узьнімае голас свой,

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

На шумлівых ростанях гукае яна, у варотах месцкіх брамаў гукае яна словы свае:

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

«Пакуль, простыя, будзеце любіць прасьціню? пакуль, скалазубы, будзеце любаваць насьміханьне свае і, дурныя, ненавідзіць веду?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Зьвярніцеся да казьнераньня майго; гля, я выльлю дух свой на вас, выяўлю словы свае вам;

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Бо я гукала, і вы адмовіліся, выцягнула руку сваю, і ня было зважаючага;

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

І пагрэбавалі ўсімі радамі маімі, і не хацелі казьнераньняў маіх;

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

Дык і я буду сьміяцца з вашага няшчасьця, і буду насьміхацца, як нойдзе на вас спалох ваш.

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Як прыйдзе, як разбурэньне, спалох ваш, і прылучыцца няшчасьце ваша, як віхор, як прыйдзе на вас гарота а безнадзееньне;

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

Тады будуць гукаць мяне, але я не адкажу; золкам будуць шукаць мяне, але ня знойдуць мяне;

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Бо ненавідзілі веду й страху СПАДАРОВАГА не абралі,

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Не хацелі мае рады, пагрэбавалі ўсім казьнераньням маім.

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

За тое будуць есьці з пладоў дарогі свае і насыцяцца радамі сваімі;

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Бо адварачаньне простых заб’ець іх, нядбайнасьць дурных загубіць іх.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Але слухаючы мяне будзе жыць бясьпечна й будзе супакойны, бяз страху ліха».

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
