Кто же вас, неразумные галаты, околдовал? А ведь Иисус Христос был виден вам так ясно, словно его прямо на ваших глазах и распяли!

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Одно только хочу у вас узнать: вы приняли Духа путем соблюдения закона — или когда уверовали в услышанную весть?

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Вы настолько неразумны, чтобы, начав с духовного, завершать плотским?

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Вы столько претерпели — и всё впустую? Если так, то впустую!

Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

А Бог, Который наделяет вас Духом и совершает среди вас чудеса, смотрит на соблюдение закона или на вашу веру в услышанную весть?

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Так и написано: «поверил Авраам Богу, и это вменилось ему в праведность».

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Вы ведь знаете, что сыновьями Авраама становятся благодаря вере.

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

И Писание предвидело, что Бог по вере оправдает язычников, и заранее возвестило Аврааму: «через тебя получат благословение все народы».

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Это благословение получают по вере вместе с верным Авраамом.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Кто полагается на соблюдение закона, на того падает проклятие, ведь написано: «Проклят всякий, кто не сохраняет всего написанного в книге закона и не соблюдает этого».

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Также ясно сказано, что закон никого не сделает праведником перед Богом: «праведный жив будет верой».

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

И что закон основан не на вере: «кто сотворит все это, этим и жив будет».

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

А Христос искупил нас от этого проклятия, Он Сам принял проклятие за нас, ведь написано: «проклят всякий, кто повешен на дереве».

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Итак, народы получили Авраамово благословение через Христа Иисуса, а мы получаем обещанные дары Духа по вере.

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Братья, скажу по-простому: если некий человек составит завещание, никто другой не может ни убавить от него, ни к нему прибавить.

Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Так и Божьи обещания были даны Аврааму и семени его, и не сказано «семенам», как если бы речь шла о многих, но в единственном числе: «и семени твоему», — то есть Христу.

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

И вот что скажу: завет, составленный Богом, не может быть четыреста тридцать лет спустя объявлен недействительным по закону, и данное Богом обещание не отменимо.

And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Если бы это наследие передавалось по закону, то не нужно было бы ничего обещать, но Авраама Бог наделил именно обещанием.

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

А что же закон? Он был дан позднее из-за преступлений, на время, пока не прорастет то обещанное семя Авраама, причем ангелы вручили закон посреднику.

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Но там, где действует один, не бывает посредников — а Бог Един.

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

Так что же, закон противоречит Божьим обещаниям? Ни в коем случае! Если бы нас возрождал к жизни тот закон, который некогда дал Бог, то и праведниками мы становились бы по закону.

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Писание определило: всё подчинено греху, но благодаря вере Иисуса Христа тем, кто уверовал, дается обещание.

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

И пока не настало время веры, мы были под стражей закона, он сохранял нас ради будущего откровения веры.

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Закон сделался нашим воспитателем, он вел нас ко Христу, чтобы нам стать праведниками благодаря вере.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Но когда настало время веры, мы уже не подчинены воспитателю.

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Все вы — дети Божьи по вере Христовой:

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

все вы, крестившись во Христа, приняли облик Христа.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Вы уже не делитесь на иудеев и эллинов, рабов и свободных, мужчин и женщин — вы все едины во Христе Иисусе.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

И если вы Христовы, разве вы не семя Авраама, не наследники всего, что было ему обещано?

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
