И проходя. Он увидел человека слепого от рождения.

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.

И спросили Его ученики Его, говоря: Равви, кто согрешил: он или родители его, что слепым родился?

“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”

Ответил Иисус: ни он не согрешил, ни родители его, но это для того, чтобы явлены были дела Божии на нем.

“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.

Нам надо делать дела Пославшего Меня, доколе есть день: приходит ночь, когда никто не может делать.

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.a The night is coming, and then no one can work.

Пока Я в мире, Я свет миру.

But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Сказав это, Он плюнул на землю, сделал смесь из слюны и помазал ему смесью глаза,

Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes.

и сказал ему: иди, умойся в водоёме Силоам (что значит в переводе: Посланный). Он пошел и умылся, и пришел зрячим.

He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!

Тут соседи и видевшие его раньше, потому что был он нищий, стали говорить: не тот ли это, кто здесь сидит и просит милостыню?

His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?”

Одни говорили: это он; другие говорили: нет, но похож на него. Он говорил: это я.

Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!”

Сказали ему тогда: как же открылись твои глаза?

They asked, “Who healed you? What happened?”

Он ответил: Человек, называемый Иисус, сделал смесь и помазал мне глаза и сказал мне: иди в Силоам и умойся. Пошел я и, умывшись, прозрел.

He told them, “The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.’ So I went and washed, and now I can see!”

И сказали ему: где Он? Он говорит: не знаю.

“Where is he now?” they asked. “I don’t know,” he replied.

Ведут его к фарисеям, этого бывшего слепца.

Then they took the man who had been blind to the Pharisees,

А была суббота в тот день, когда сделал смесь Иисус и открыл ему глаза.

because it was on the Sabbath that Jesus had made the mud and healed him.

Снова начали спрашивать его фарисеи, как он прозрел. Он же сказал им: смесь положил Он мне на глаза, и умылся я, и вижу.

The Pharisees asked the man all about it. So he told them, “He put the mud over my eyes, and when I washed it away, I could see!”

Сказали тогда некоторые из фарисеев: не от Бога Этот Человек, потому что субботы не соблюдает. Другие же говорили: как может человек грешный творить такие знамения? И было между ними разделение.

Some of the Pharisees said, “This man Jesus is not from God, for he is working on the Sabbath.” Others said, “But how could an ordinary sinner do such miraculous signs?” So there was a deep division of opinion among them.

Тогда снова говорят слепому: чтоб скажешь о Нем ты, Он ведь открыл тебе глаза? И тот сказал: Он пророк.

Then the Pharisees again questioned the man who had been blind and demanded, “What’s your opinion about this man who healed you?” The man replied, “I think he must be a prophet.”

Не поверили тогда Иудеи о нем, что он был слеп и прозрел, пока не призвали родителей самого прозревшего

The Jewish leaders still refused to believe the man had been blind and could now see, so they called in his parents.

и не спросили их: ваш это сын, о котором вы говорите, что он родился слепым? Как же он теперь видит?

They asked them, “Is this your son? Was he born blind? If so, how can he now see?”

И ответили родители его и сказали: мы знаем, что это наш сын, и что он родился слепым;

His parents replied, “We know this is our son and that he was born blind,

а как он теперь видит, не знаем, или кто открыл ему глаза, мы не знаем; его спросите, он взрослый, сам о себе скажет.

but we don’t know how he can see or who healed him. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.”

Это сказали родители его, оттого что боялись Иудеев; ибо Иудеи уже согласились между собой: если кто исповедает Его Христом, да будет отлучен от синагоги.

His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.

Поэтому родители его сказали: он взрослый, его спросите.

That’s why they said, “He is old enough. Ask him.”

Итак, призвали человека вторично, того, кто был слеп, и сказали ему: воздай славу Богу; мы знаем, что Человек Тот грешник.

So for the second time they called in the man who had been blind and told him, “God should get the glory for this,b because we know this man Jesus is a sinner.”

Он же ответил: грешник ли Он, я не знаю; одно знаю, что слеп был и теперь вижу.

“I don’t know whether he is a sinner,” the man replied. “But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!”

Сказали ему: что Он сделал тебе? Как открыл тебе глаза?

“But what did he do?” they asked. “How did he heal you?”

Он ответил им: я уже сказал вам, и вы не услышали. Почему снова хотите слушать? Не хотите ли и вы сделаться Его учениками?

“Look!” the man exclaimed. “I told you once. Didn’t you listen? Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?”

И обругали они его и сказали: ты ученик Того, а мы Моисеевы ученики.

Then they cursed him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses!

Мы знаем, что Моисею говорил Бог, а об Этом мы не знаем, откуда Он.

We know God spoke to Moses, but we don’t even know where this man comes from.”

Ответил человек и сказал им: это и удивительно, что вы не знаете, откуда Он, а Он открыл мне глаза.

“Why, that’s very strange!” the man replied. “He healed my eyes, and yet you don’t know where he comes from?

Мы знаем, что грешников Бог не слушает: но если кто боится Бога и волю Его творит, того слушает.

We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will.

От века не было слышно, чтобы кто открыл глаза слепорожденному,

Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind.

Если бы не был Он от Бога, не мог бы творить ничего.

If this man were not from God, he couldn’t have done it.”

Ответили они и сказали ему: в грехах ты весь родился, и ты учишь нас? И выгнали его вон.

“You were born a total sinner!” they answered. “Are you trying to teach us?” And they threw him out of the synagogue.

Услышал Иисус, что выгнали его вон, и, найдя его, сказал; веруешь ты в Сына Человеческого?

When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?c”

Тот ответил и сказал: а кто Он, Господи, чтобы я уверовал в Него?

The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.”

Сказал ему Иисус: и видел ты Его, и Говорящий с тобою — это Он.

“You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!”

И он сказал: верую, Господи, и поклонился Ему.

“Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus.

И сказал Иисус: на суд пришел Я в мир сей, чтобы невидящие видели, и видящие стали слепы.

Then Jesus told him,d “I entered this world to render judgment — to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they seee that they are blind.”

Услышали это те из фарисеев, которые были с Ним, и сказали Ему: неужели и мы слепы?

Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind?”

Сказал им Иисус: если бы вы были слепы, не имели бы греха. Ныне же вы говорите: «мы видим». Грех ваш пребывает.

“If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.
