Когда Ирод, правитель Галилеи, царствовавший в то время, узнал об Иисусе,

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesus

он сказал своим слугам: «Этот Человек на самом деле Иоанн Креститель. Он воскрес из мёртвых и потому способен творить все эти чудеса».

and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.”

Задолго до этого Ирод схватил Иоанна, заковал его в цепи и бросил в темницу. Он сделал это из-за Иродиады, жены своего брата Филиппа.

For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.

Иоанн говорил ему: «Тебе не подобает с ней сожительствовать».

Because John had said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

Ирод хотел убить его, но боялся народа, так как люди считали Иоанна пророком.

And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

Когда наступил день рождения Ирода, дочь Иродиады танцевала перед ним и его гостями и так угодила ему,

But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod.

что он клятвенно пообещал дать ей всё, о чём она ни попросит.

Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.

По наущению матери она сказала: «Принеси мне на блюде голову Иоанна Крестителя».

So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”

И хотя царь был опечален, он приказал исполнить её просьбу, так как гости, которые ели вмести с ним, слышали его клятву.

And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.

Поэтому Ирод послал людей обезглавить Иоанна в тюрьме.

So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.

Они принесли голову Иоанна на блюде и отдали девушке, а та отнесла её матери.

And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother.

После этого пришли ученики Иоанна и, забрав тело, похоронили его, а затем пошли и рассказали Иисусу, что произошло.

Then his disciples came and took away the body and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Услышав о том, что случилось, Иисус сел в лодку и отправился в уединённое место, чтобы побыть в одиночестве. Но, когда люди узнали об этом, они пришли из своих городов и пошли за Ним по берегу.

When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

Выйдя на берег, Иисус увидел большую толпу и сжалился над людьми, и исцелил больных.

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

Когда настал вечер, к Нему пришли Его ученики и сказали: «Уже поздно, а место здесь уединённое. Распусти людей, чтобы они могли пойти в селения и купить себе еду».

When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

Но Иисус сказал ученикам: «Незачем им уходить. Вы дайте им что-нибудь поесть».

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Ученики ответили Ему: «Всё, что у нас есть с собой, это пять хлебов и две рыбины».

And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

Иисус сказал: «Принесите их Мне».

He said, “Bring them here to Me.”

Он велел народу сесть на траву, а затем, взяв пять хлебов и две рыбины, возвёл глаза к небу и возблагодарил Бога за еду. После этого Он преломил хлеб и стал раздавать куски Своим ученикам, а те в свою очередь передавали их народу.

Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.

Все поели и насытились, а ученики потом ещё наполнили остатками еды двенадцать корзин.

So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.

И всего среди евших было пять тысяч мужчин, а кроме них ещё женщины и дети.

Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Вскоре после этого Иисус велел ученикам сесть в лодку и послал их вперед, на другой берег озера, а Сам остался, чтобы отпустить народ.

Immediately Jesus [a]made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.

Попрощавшись с людьми, Он в одиночестве поднялся в горы, чтобы помолиться. И когда наступил вечер, Он был там один.

And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.

Лодка была уже далеко от берега, и волны кидали её из стороны в сторону, так как она шла против сильного ветра.

But the boat was now [b]in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

Между тремя и шестью часами утра Иисус пришёл к ученикам, идя по воде.

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.

Увидев, что Он идёт по озеру, они испугались и сказали: «Это призрак!» — и стали кричать от страха.

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

Затем Иисус заговорил с ними: «Не пугайтесь! Это — Я! Не бойтесь!»

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [c]“Be of good cheer! [d]It is I; do not be afraid.”

В ответ Пётр сказал: «Господи, если это Ты, то прикажи, чтобы я мог подойти к Тебе по воде!»

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

Иисус сказал: «Подойди!» Тогда Пётр вышел из лодки и пошёл по воде к Иисусу.

So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Тотчас же он заметил, что ветер усилился, и поэтому испугался. Он стал тонуть и закричал: «Господи, спаси меня!»

But when he saw [e]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Иисус тотчас же протянул руку и подхватил его. Он сказал Петру: «Маловерный, почему ты усомнился?»

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Как только они вошли в лодку, ветер стих.

And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

Те, кто были в лодке, поклонились Иисусу и сказали: «Ты — истинно Сын Божий!»

Then those who were in the boat [f]came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

Они пересекли озеро и причалили к берегу в Геннисарете.

When they had crossed over, they came [g]to the land of Gennesaret.

Когда местные жители узнали Иисуса, они послали весть по всей округе, и люди стали приносить больных

And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick,

и умолять Его позволить им хотя бы дотронуться до подола Его одежды. И все те, кто коснулись её, исцелились.

and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.
