— Тогда Небесное Царство будет подобно десяти девушкам, которые, взяв свои лампы, вышли встречать жениха.

“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaidsa who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

Пять из них были глупыми, а другие пять умными.

Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

Глупые девушки взяли лампы, но не взяли для них масла.

The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps,

A умные вместе с лампами взяли и масло в кувшинах.

but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil.

Жених задержался, и они все стали дремать и заснули.

When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

Около полуночи раздался крик: "Жених идет! Выходите встречать его!"

“At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’

Девушки проснулись и стали поправлять свои лампы.

“All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps.

Глупые сказали умным: "Дайте нам немного масла, наши лампы гаснут".

Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’

"Нет, — ответили те, — если мы поделимся с вами маслом, то не хватит ни вам, ни нам. Пойдите лучше к торговцам и купите".

“But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’

Только они ушли за маслом, пришел жених. Девушки с зажженными лампами вошли с ним на свадебный пир, и дверь за ними закрылась.

“But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.

Позже вернулись и остальные девушки и стали просить: "Господин! Господин! Открой нам!"

Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’

Но жених ответил: "Говорю вам правду: я не знаю вас".

“But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’

Поэтому будьте всегда наготове: ведь вы не знаете ни дня, ни часа.

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.

— Тогда будет, как у того человека, который, отправляясь в далекое путешествие, созвал своих слуг и поручил им свое имущество.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

Одному он дал пять талантов, другому — два, третьему один, каждому по его способностям.

He gave five bags of silverb to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last — dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.

Получивший пять талантов сразу пошел, вложил деньги в дело и приобрел еще пять.

“The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more.

Получивший два таланта тоже приобрел еще два.

The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more.

A тот, который получил один талант, пошел, вырыл яму и закопал деньги, которые ему доверил хозяин.

But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s money.

Прошло много времени, и вот хозяин этих слуг вернулся и потребовал у них отчета.

“After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.

Человек, которому было доверено пять талантов, принес и другие пять: "Смотри, — сказал он хозяину, — ты доверил мне пять талантов, и я выручил еще пять!"

The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’

Хозяин сказал: "Молодец! Ты хороший и верный слуга! Ты был верен мне в малом, и я поручу тебе более важное дело. Заходи и веселись со своим хозяином!"

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!c’

Пришел и человек с двумя талантами. "Хозяин, — сказал он, — ты доверил мне два таланта, смотри, я выручил еще два!"

“The servant who had received the two bags of silver came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two bags of silver to invest, and I have earned two more.’

Хозяин сказал: "Молодец! Ты хороший и верный слуга! Ты был верен мне в малом, и я смогу поручить тебе более важное дело. Заходи и веселись со своим хозяином!"

“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

Затем пришел и тот, кому была доверен один талант. "Господин, — говорит он, — я знал, что ты человек суровый, жнешь там, где не сеял, и собираешь там, где не рассыпал.

“Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate.

Я очень боялся и поэтому пошел и спрятал твой талант в землю. Вот то, что тебе принадлежит".

I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’

Хозяин же ответил: "Злой и ленивый слуга! Значит, ты знал, что я жну, где не сеял, и собираю, где не рассыпал?

“But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate,

В таком случае ты должен был пустить мои деньги в оборот, чтобы, когда я вернусь, ты мог отдать мне их с прибылью.

why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’

Заберите у него этот талант и дайте тому, у кого десять талантов.

“Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver.

Потому что всякому имеющему прибавится еще, и у него будет избыток. А у кого ничего нет, будет отнято и то, что у него есть.

To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

Выбросьте этого негодного слугу вон, во тьму, туда, где плачут и скрежещут зубами".

Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

— Когда Сын Человеческий придет в своей славе и с Ним все ангелы, тогда Он сядет на престоле своей славы.

“But when the Son of Mand comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.

Перед Ним будут собраны все народы, и Он отделит одних людей от других, как пастух отделяет овец от козлов.

All the nationse will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

"Овец" Он соберет по правую сторону от себя, а "козлов" — по левую.

He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.

Тогда Царь скажет тем, кто по правую сторону: "Придите ко Мне, благословенные Моим Отцом, получите ваше наследство — Царство, приготовленное вам еще от создания мира.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.

Потому что Я был голоден, и вы накормили Меня; Я хотел пить, и вы напоили Меня; Я искал приюта, и вы пригласили Меня в свой дом.

For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.

Я был наг, и вы одели Меня; Я был болен, и вы ухаживали за Мной; Я был в тюрьме, и вы пришли навестить Меня".

I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

Тогда праведные скажут: "Господи, когда мы видели Тебя голодным и накормили Тебя? Когда Ты хотел пить, и мы дали Тебе напиться?

“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?

Когда мы видели Тебя без приюта и приняли Тебя, или видели нагим и одели?

Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?

Когда мы видели Тебя больным или в тюрьме и навестили Тебя?"

When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

Царь им ответит: "Говорю вам истину: то, что вы сделали одному из наименьших Моих братьев, вы сделали Мне".

“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,f you were doing it to me!’

Тогда Он скажет и тем, кто будет по левую сторону: "Идите от Меня, проклятые, в вечный огонь, приготовленный для дьявола и его ангелов.

“Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.g

Потому что Я был голоден, и вы не накормили Меня; Я хотел пить, и вы не напоили Меня;

For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink.

Я искал приюта, и вы не пустили Меня в дом; Я был наг, и вы не одели Меня; Я был болен и в тюрьме, и вы не навестили Меня".

I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

Они тоже спросят: "Господи, когда мы видели Тебя голодным, или когда Ты хотел пить, или нуждался в приюте или в одежде, или был болен, или в тюрьме, и мы не помогли Тебе?"

“Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

Он им ответит: "Говорю вам истину: все, чего вы не сделали для одного из наименьших, вы не сделали Мне".

“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

И они пойдут в вечное наказание, а праведники — в вечную жизнь.

“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
