Рано утром все первосвященники и старейшины народа вынесли Иисусу смертный приговор.

Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.

Они связали Его и отвели к римскому наместнику Пилату.

Then they bound him, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.

Когда Иуда, который предал Иисуса, увидел, что Иисус осужден, он раскаялся и вернул тридцать серебряных монет первосвященникам и старейшинам.

When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders.

— Я согрешил, — сказал он, — я предал невинного человека на смерть. — A нам-то что за дело? — ответили те. — Смотри сам.

“I have sinned,” he declared, “for I have betrayed an innocent man.” “What do we care?” they retorted. “That’s your problem.”

Бросив деньги в храме, Иуда ушел и повесился.

Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

А первосвященники собрали деньги и сказали: — Положить эти деньги в сокровищницу нельзя, так как это цена крови.

The leading priests picked up the coins. “It wouldn’t be right to put this money in the Temple treasury,” they said, “since it was payment for murder.”a

И, посоветовавшись, они решили купить на них поле гончара и использовать его под кладбище для чужеземцев.

After some discussion they finally decided to buy the potter’s field, and they made it into a cemetery for foreigners.

Поэтому то поле и называется по сей день Кровавым Полем.

That is why the field is still called the Field of Blood.

Так исполнилось сказанное пророком Иеремией: "Они взяли тридцать серебряных монет — цену, назначенную Ему израильским народом,

This fulfilled the prophecy of Jeremiah that says, “They tookb the thirty pieces of silver — the price at which he was valued by the people of Israel,

и купили на них землю гончара, как повелел мне Господь".

and purchased the potter’s field, as the LORD directed.c”

Тем временем Иисуса поставили перед правителем, и тот допрашивал Его: — Ты еврейский царь? — Ты говоришь, — отвечал Иисус.

Now Jesus was standing before Pilate, the Roman governor. “Are you the king of the Jews?” the governor asked him. Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

Когда же Его обвиняли первосвященники и старейшины, Он ничего не отвечал.

But when the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent.

Пилат спросил: — Ты что, не слышишь, в каких преступлениях они Тебя обвиняют?

“Don’t you hear all these charges they are bringing against you?” Pilate demanded.

Но Иисус, к удивлению правителя, не отвечал ни на одно из обвинений.

But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.

У правителя был обычай на праздник освобождать одного из заключенных по выбору народа.

Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner to the crowd — anyone they wanted.

В то время под стражей находился известный узник, которого звали Варавва.

This year there was a notorious prisoner, a man named Barabbas.d

Поэтому, когда собрался народ, Пилат спросил: — Кого вы хотите, чтобы я вам отпустил: Варавву или Иисуса, называемого Мессией?

As the crowds gathered before Pilate’s house that morning, he asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you — Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

Он знал, что Иисуса предали ему из зависти.

(He knew very well that the religious leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy.)

К тому же, когда Пилат сидел в судейском кресле, его жена послала сказать ему: "Не делай ничего этому праведнику, я сильно перестрадала сегодня во сне из-за Него".

Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Leave that innocent man alone. I suffered through a terrible nightmare about him last night.”

Но первосвященники и старейшины убедили толпу просить освобождения Вараввы и казни Иисуса.

Meanwhile, the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death.

— Так кого же из этих двоих вы хотите, чтобы я вам отпустил? — спросил правитель. — Варавву! — сказали они.

So the governor asked again, “Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back, “Barabbas!”

— Что же мне тогда делать с Иисусом, которого называют Христом? — спросил Пилат. Все в один голос закричали: — Пусть Он будет распят!

Pilate responded, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” They shouted back, “Crucify him!”

— За что? Какое преступление Он совершил? — спросил Пилат. Но толпа продолжала кричать еще громче: — Пусть Он будет распят!

“Why?” Pilate demanded. “What crime has he committed?” But the mob roared even louder, “Crucify him!”

Когда Пилат увидел, что ничего не может сделать и что волнение в народе лишь нарастает, он взял воды, вымыл руки перед народом и сказал: — Смотрите, я не виновен в крови этого человека.

Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

И весь народ сказал: — Кровь Его на нас и на наших детях!

And all the people yelled back, “We will take responsibility for his death — we and our children!”e

Тогда Пилат отпустил им Варавву, а Иисуса велел бичевать и затем отдать на распятие.

So Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

Солдаты отвели Иисуса в резиденцию правителя и собрали там вокруг Него весь полк.

Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquartersf and called out the entire regiment.

Они раздели Его и надели на Него пурпурную мантию.

They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.

Потом они сплели венок из терновника и надели Ему на голову, дали Ему в правую руку трость и стали насмехаться над Ним, становясь перед Ним на колени и крича: — Да здравствует еврейский царь!

They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”

И плевали на Него и, взяв палку, били Его по голове.

And they spit on him and grabbed the stick and struck him on the head with it.

Вдоволь наиздевавшись, они сняли с Иисуса мантию, одели Его в прежнюю одежду и повели на распятие.

When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

Когда они выходили, им повстречался человек из Кирены по имени Симон,

Along the way, they came across a man named Simon, who was from Cyrene,g and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross.

И солдаты заставили его нести крест Иисуса на место, называемое Голгофа (что значит "Череп" или "Лобное место").

And they went out to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”).

Там Иисусу предложили вина, смешанного с желчью. Попробовав, Он не стал пить.

The soldiers gave Jesus wine mixed with bitter gall, but when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it.

Распяв Иисуса, солдаты по жребию разделили Его одежду

After they had nailed him to the cross, the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.h

и сели стеречь Его.

Then they sat around and kept guard as he hung there.

Над головой Иисуса прибили табличку с указанием Его вины: "Иисус, еврейский царь".

A sign was fastened above Jesus’ head, announcing the charge against him. It read: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

Вместе с Ним были распяты и два разбойника, один по правую, а другой по левую сторону.

Two revolutionariesi were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

Люди, проходившие мимо, выкрикивали оскорбления и качали головами:

The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery.

— A еще собирался разрушить храм и в три дня его отстроить! Спаси хотя бы себя самого, если Ты Божий Сын! Сойди с креста!

“Look at you now!” they yelled at him. “You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!”

Первосвященники и учителя закона тоже насмехались над Иисусом.

The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders also mocked Jesus.

— Спасал других, — говорили они, — а себя спасти не может! Царь Израиля! Пусть Он сойдет с креста, и тогда мы поверим в Него.

“He saved others,” they scoffed, “but he can’t save himself! So he is the King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!

Он полагался на Бога, так пусть Бог теперь спасет Его, если хочет; ведь Он же заявлял, что Он Божий Сын!

He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

Разбойники, распятые вместе с Иисусом, тоже издевались над Ним.

Even the revolutionaries who were crucified with him ridiculed him in the same way.

Около полудня всю землю окутала тьма. Было темно примерно до трех часов дня.

At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.

Около трех часов Иисус громко крикнул: — Эли, Эли, лема сабахтани? — (что значит: "Боже Мой, Боже Мой, зачем Ты оставил Меня?")

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,j lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”k

Некоторые из стоявших поблизости, услышав это, сказали: — Он зовет Илию.

Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.

Один из них тут же подбежал, взял губку, пропитал ее кислым вином, насадил на палку и подал Иисусу.

One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink.

Другие же говорили: — Подожди, давай посмотрим, придет Илия спасти Его или нет.

But the rest said, “Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”l

Иисус снова громко закричал и испустил дух.

Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit.

И тут завеса храма разорвалась надвое сверху донизу. Затряслась земля и раскололись скалы.

At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart,

Раскрылись гробницы, и многие тела умерших праведников воскресли.

and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.

Они вышли из гробниц и, уже после того как воскрес сам Иисус, вошли в святой город, где их видело много людей.

They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.

Когда сотник и те, кто вместе с ним стерег Иисуса, увидели землетрясение и все, что произошло, они очень испугались и сказали: — Он действительно был Сыном Бога!

The Roman officerm and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!”

Там присутствовало много женщин, которые издали наблюдали за всем происходящим. Они шли за Иисусом из самой Галилеи и помогали Ему.

And many women who had come from Galilee with Jesus to care for him were watching from a distance.

Среди них были Мария Магдалина, Мария, мать Иакова и Иосии, и мать сыновей Зеведея.

Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James and Joseph), and the mother of James and John, the sons of Zebedee.

Вечером к месту казни пришел один богатый человек из Aримафеи, по имени Иосиф. Он тоже был учеником Иисуса.

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,

Иосиф пришел к Пилату и попросил тело Иисуса. Пилат приказал, чтобы тело ему отдали.

went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him.

Иосиф взял его, обернул чистым льняным полотном

Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth.

и положил в свою новую гробницу, которая была вырублена в скале. Привалив ко входу большой камень, он ушел.

He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.

А Мария Магдалина и другая Мария остались сидеть напротив гробницы.

Both Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting across from the tomb and watching.

На следующий день, это была суббота, первосвященники и фарисеи собрались у Пилата.

The next day, on the Sabbath,n the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate.

— Господин, — обратились они к нему, — мы вспомнили, что когда этот обманщик еще был жив, Он сказал: "Через три дня Я воскресну".

They told him, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise from the dead.’

Поэтому прикажи, чтобы могила три дня охранялась, иначе Его ученики могут прийти, выкрасть тело и сказать, что Он воскрес из мертвых. Этот последний обман будет еще хуже первого.

So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone he was raised from the dead! If that happens, we’ll be worse off than we were at first.”

- У вас есть стража, — ответил Пилат, — идите и охраняйте, как знаете.

Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can.”

Они пошли, опечатали камень и выставили к гробнице стражу.

So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it.
