В это же время император Август издал постановление о проведении переписи по всей империи.

But it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be made of all the habitable world.

Эта перепись, первая в своём роде, была произведена при правлении Квириния Сирией.

The census itself first took place when Cyrenius had the government of Syria.

Каждый человек должен был записаться в своём городе.

And all went to be inscribed in the census roll, each to his own city:

Итак, Иосиф, поскольку был потомком Давида, из Назарета в Галилее направился в город Вифлеем в Иудее,

and Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city Nazareth to Judaea, to David's city, the which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

чтобы записаться вместе с Марией, обручённой ему женой, которая была беременна.

to be inscribed in the census roll with Mary who was betrothed to him [as his] wife, she being great with child.

Пока они находились в Вифлееме, ей подошло время рожать

And it came to pass, while they were there, the days of her giving birth [to her child] were fulfilled,

и она родила своего первенца, сына. Она спеленала его и положила в кормушку для скота, так как для них не нашлось места в жилых комнатах.

and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him up in swaddling-clothes and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Неподалёку за городом находились пастухи, которые ночевали в поле, охраняя свои стада.

And there were shepherds in that country abiding without, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

Внезапно перед ними предстал ангел Господа, и слава Господа озарила их. Они сильно испугались;

And lo, an angel of [the] Lord was there by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] great fear.

но ангел сказал им: "Не бойтесь, я здесь для того, чтобы сообщить вам Добрую Весть, которая принесёт великую радость всем людям.

And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people;

В этот самый день, в городе Давида, для вас родился Освободитель — Мессия, Господь.

for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David's city, who is Christ [the] Lord.

Вот как вы узнаете это: вы найдёте младенца, завёрнутого в пелёнки, лежащего в кормушке для скота".

And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.

Внезапно вместе с ангелом появилось многочисленное небесное войско, превозносящее Бога:

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,

"Слава Богу в вышних небесах! И на земле мир среди людей доброй воли!"

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.

Как только ангелы оставили их и вернулись на небеса, пастухи сказали друг другу: "Давайте пойдём в Вифлеем и посмотрим, что там произошло, о чём сообщил нам Господь".

And it came to pass, as the angels departed from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us make our way then now as far as Bethlehem, and let us see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.

Поспешно отправившись в путь, они пришли и обнаружили Марию, Иосифа, и ребёнка, лежащего в кормушке для скота.

And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger;

Увидев это, они сообщили о том, что им было сказано об этом младенце;

and having seen [it] they made known about the country the thing which had been said to them concerning this child.

и все слышавшие поразились тому, что рассказали им пастухи.

And all who heard [it] wondered at the things said to them by the shepherds.

Мария сберегла эти слова в своём сердце и постоянно размышляла над ними.

But Mary kept all these things [in her mind], pondering [them] in her heart.

Тем временем пастухи возвратились, прославляя и восхваляя Бога за все то, что они видели и слышали: все было именно так, как им было сказано.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all things which they had heard and seen, as it had been said to them.

На восьмой день, когда пришло время совершить ему ритуал обрезания, ему дали имя Иисус, как назвал его ангел, прежде чем он был зачат.

And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called Jesus, which was the name given by the angel before he had been conceived in the womb.

Когда подошло время для их очищения в соответствии с Пятикнижием Моисея, они взяли младенца в Иерусалим, чтобы представить его перед Господом,

And when the days were fulfilled for their purifying according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord

(как написано в Законе Господа: "Каждый первородный сын должен быть посвящён Господу") (Исход 13:2, 12, 15)

(as it is written in the law of [the] Lord: Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),

а также чтобы принести в жертву двух горлиц или двух птенцов голубя, (Левит 12:8) как предписано Законом Господа.

and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of [the] Lord: A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.

В Иерусалиме был человек по имени Симеон. Он был праведником, благочестивым человеком который с нетерпением ждал, когда Бог утешит Израиль, и Святой Дух был на нём.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and pious, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and [the] Holy Spirit was upon him.

Святой Дух открыл ему, что он не умрёт до тех пор, пока не увидит Мессию Господа.

And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord's Christ.

Под воздействием Духа, он вошёл во двор Храма; и когда родители внесли младенца Иисуса, чтобы совершить предписанное Законом,

And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,

Симеон взял его на руки, произнёс благословение Богу и сказал:

he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

"Теперь, Господь, согласно Твоему слову, Ты отпускаешь своего слугу с миром;

Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;

ибо я видел своими глазами Твоё Спасение,

for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

которое Ты приготовил перед лицом всех народов —

which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;

свет, который принесёт откровение народам и славу Твоему народу Израилю".

a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and [the] glory of thy people Israel.

Отец и мать Иисуса удивлялись всему тому, что Симеон говорил о нём.

And his father and mother wondered at the things which were said concerning him.

Симеон благословил их и сказал матери ребёнка, Марии: "Этот ребёнок станет причиной тому, что многие в Израиле упадут и поднимутся, он будет знамением, которому люди будут противиться;

And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Lo, this [child] is set for the fall and rising up of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against;

более того, меч пронзит и твоё сердце. Всё это случится для того, чтобы сделать явными сокровенные мысли многих людей".

(and even a sword shall go through thine own soul;) so that [the] thoughts may be revealed from many hearts.

Там также находилась пророчица по имени Хана Бат-Пнуэль из колена Ашера. Это была пожилая женщина — она жила с мужем семь лет, после того, как вышла замуж,

And there was a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of [the] tribe of Asher, who was far advanced in years, having lived with [her] husband seven years from her virginity,

и с тех пор оставалась вдовой; теперь ей было восемьдесят четыре года. Она никогда не покидала территорию Храма, но служила там [Богу] день и ночь, постясь и молясь.

and herself a widow up to eighty-four years; who did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers;

В тот момент она подошла и начала благодарить Бога и говорить об этом младенце всем тем, кто ожидал освобождения Иерусалима.

and she coming up the same hour gave praise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who waited for redemption in Jerusalem.

Когда Иосиф и Мария совершили всё, что было предписано Законом Господа, они вернулись в Галилею, в свой город Назарет.

And when they had completed all things according to the law of [the] Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own city Nazareth.

Ребёнок их рос и стал сильным и исполненным мудрости — Божье благоволение было на нём.

And the child grew and waxed strong [in spirit], filled with wisdom, and God's grace was upon him.

Каждый год родители Иисуса ходили в Иерусалим на праздник Песах.

And his parents went yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.

Когда ему было двенадцать лет, они отправились на праздник, как требовал того обычай.

And when he was twelve years old, and they went up [to Jerusalem] according to the custom of the feast

Однако после того, как праздник завершился, и родители возвращались, Иисус остался в Иерусалиме. Они не заметили этого,

and had completed the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents knew not [of it];

полагая, что он идёт с караваном, и только через день пути начали искать его среди родственников и друзей.

but, supposing him to be in the company that journeyed together, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their relations and acquaintances:

Не обнаружив его, они вернулись в Иерусалим, чтобы разыскать его там.

and not having found him they returned to Jerusalem seeking him.

На третий день они его нашли — он сидел во дворе Храма среди раввинов, не только слушая их, но и задавая вопросы о том, о чём шла речь;

And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers and hearing them and asking them questions.

и все слышавшие его изумлялись его ответам и тому, насколько глубоко он всё понимает.

And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

Когда родители увидели его, они были поражены. И мать сказала ему: "Сын! Почему ты с нами так поступил? Мы с твоим отцом очень беспокоились и искали тебя!"

And when they saw him they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Child, why hast thou dealt thus with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee distressed.

Он ответил им: "Зачем вам нужно было искать меня? Разве вы не знали, что мне необходимо заниматься делами моего Отца?"

And he said to them, Why [is it] that ye have sought me? did ye not know that I ought to be [occupied] in my Father's business?

Ho они не поняли, о чём он говорит.

And they understood not the thing that he said to them.

Итак, он пошёл с ними в Назарет и был им послушен. Однако мать его сберегла всё это в своём сердце.

And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he was in subjection to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.

А Иисус рос и возрастал в мудрости, и заслужил расположение как у людей, так и у Бога.

And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.
