Это мудрые изречения царя Лемуила, которым научила царя его мать.

The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him:

Ты — мой сын, мой любимый, о котором просила я в молитве!

What, my son? and what, O son of my womb? and what, O son of my vows?

Не теряй силу свою на женщин, они несут уничтожение царям. Поэтому не трать свои силы на них.

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to them that destroy kings.

Лемуил, немудро царю пить вино, как немудро правителю хотеть выпить пиво.

It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for rulers [to say], Where is the strong drink?

Они могут пить слишком много и забыть, что закон говорит, тогда отнимут они права у бедных.

lest they drink And forget the law, And pervert the judgment of any of the children of affliction.

Нищим пиво отдай, отдай вино тем, чья жизнь такая горькая.

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto the bitter of soul:

Будут пить они и забудут бедность свою, будут пить и забудут о своих несчастьях.

let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Говори за тех, кто не может говорить, защищай права нищих!

Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all those that are left desolate.

Говори и требуй справедливости! Защищай права бедных и нуждающихся!

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and minister justice to the afflicted and needy.

Очень трудно найти совершенную жену, но цена её превыше драгоценностей.

Who can find a woman of worth? for her price is far above rubies.

Муж её зависит от неё, он бедности никогда не узнает.

The heart of her husband confideth in her, and he shall have no lack of spoil.

Она всю жизнь старается для мужа и не становится причиной бед.

She doeth him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.

Всё время занята она, собирая шерсть и хлопок. Сделанное собственными руками наслаждение приносит ей.

She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

Словно корабль, приплывший издалека, она отовсюду приносит пищу в свой дом.

She is like the merchants' ships: she bringeth her food from afar;

Утром встаёт она рано, еду всей семье готовит, а также и служанок кормит.

And she riseth while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and the day's work to her maidens.

Она земли приобретает, осматривая их, она заработанные деньги использует во благо и сама сажает виноградники.

She considereth a field, and acquireth it; of the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Трудится она много, ей сил хватает на любую работу.

She girdeth her loins with strength, and maketh strong her arms.

Работая допоздна, она занимается обменом вещей и из этого получает прибыль.

She perceiveth that her earning is good; her lamp goeth not out by night.

Она прядёт свои нити и ткёт своё полотно.

She putteth her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

Всегда подаёт она бедным и помогает всем, кто в нужде.

She stretcheth out her hand to the afflicted, and she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Когда идёт снег, она о семье своей не волнуется, потому что она обеспечила всех тёплой одеждой.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

Она делает простыни и покрывала, а на ней на самой одежда из прекрасного полотна.

She maketh herself coverlets; her clothing is byssus and purple.

Люди чтут её мужа, так как он один из самых уважаемых городских вельмож.

Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Она купцам продаёт сотканные ею одежды и сделанные своими руками кожаные ремни.

She maketh body linen and selleth it, and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Она и сильна, и уважаема всеми, и в будущее с уверенностью смотрит.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laugheth [at] the coming day.

Она мудро рассуждает и учит всех любви и доброте.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and upon her tongue is the law of kindness.

Она не ленива и заботится обо всём доме.

She surveyeth the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Дети её говорят о ней хорошо. Муж её хвалится ею:

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her:

«Есть много хороших женщин, но ты ни с кем не сравнима».

Many daughters have done worthily, but thou excellest them all.

Грация и красота могут обмануть, но женщина, которая чтит Господа, должна быть восхвалена.

Gracefulness is deceitful and beauty is vain; a woman [that] feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised.

Прилюдно восхваляй её за все дела, совершённые её руками.

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
