Сын мой, не забудь моих поучений, помни всё, что я советую делать.

My son, forget not my teaching, and let thy heart observe my commandments;

То, чему я тебя учу, принесёт тебе долгую и счастливую жизнь.

for length of days, and years of life, and peace shall they add to thee.

Никогда не переставай любить, всегда будь преданным и верным. Сделай это частью себя, обвяжи вокруг шеи твоей, запиши в сердце своём.

Let not loving-kindness and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck, write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

Тогда и Бог, и люди будут довольны тобой, и ты всегда будешь пользоваться доброй славой.

and thou shalt find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Во всём верь Господу и не полагайся всецело на свой собственный разум.

Confide in Jehovah with all thy heart, and lean not unto thine own intelligence;

Доверься Ему во всём, что делаешь, тогда Он тебе поможет.

in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will make plain thy paths.

Не полагайся на свою мудрость, но почитай Господа и будь далёк от зла.

Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

Это будет лекарством для твоего тела, освежающим напитком, возвращающим силы.

it shall be health for thy navel, and moisture for thy bones.

Воздавай почести Господу своим богатством, а также всегда отдавай Ему первую часть своего урожая.

Honour Jehovah with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase;

Тогда у тебя будет всё, что нужно: амбары твои будут полны зерна, а вино будет переливаться через края сосудов.

so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy vats shall overflow with new wine.

Сын мой, когда Господь указывает тебе на твои ошибки, не огорчайся наказаниями, старайся извлечь урок.

My son, despise not the instruction of Jehovah, neither be weary of his chastisement;

Господь исправляет тех, кого Он любит. Он как отец, наказывающий любимых сыновей.

for whom Jehovah loveth he chasteneth, even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Человек, нашедший мудрость, будет счастлив, он будет блажен, когда к нему понимание придёт.

Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

Прибыль, которую даёт мудрость, лучше серебра и дороже чистейшего золота.

For the gain thereof is better than the gain of silver, and her revenue than fine gold.

Мудрость дороже драгоценностей, ничего из желаемого тобой не сравнится по ценности с мудростью.

She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not equal unto her.

Мудрость даёт долгую жизнь, богатство и честь.

Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand riches and honour.

Люди, обладающие мудростью, живут в мире и счастье.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Мудрость как дерево жизни для тех, кто принимает её. Хранящий мудрость будет воистину счастлив и благословлён.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is he that retaineth her.

Господь сотворил землю мудростью Своей и небеса разумом Своим.

Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens.

Он Своим знанием сотворил воду. Благодаря Его мудрости небо нам шлёт дожди.

By his knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.

Сын мой, везде храни свою мудрость и разум, не теряй их.

My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Мудрость и разум дадут тебе жизнь и сделают её прекрасной.

so shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace unto thy neck.

Все свои дни ты проживёшь в безопасности и, споткнувшись, никогда не упадёшь.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, and thy foot shall not stumble;

Когда ты ляжешь спать, с тобой не будет страха и сон твой будет мирным.

when thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid, but thou shalt lie down and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Никогда не бойся нападок зло творящих, а также внезапных бед, которые могут случиться с тобой,

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the destruction of the wicked, when it cometh;

потому что Господь сохранит тебя и не даст оступиться.

for Jehovah shall be thy confidence, and he will keep thy foot from being taken.

Сделай всё от тебя зависящее, чтобы помочь людям, нуждающимся в помощи.

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.

Если твой ближний просит тебя о чём-то, дай ему это сразу и не говори: «Приди завтра».

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to-morrow I will give, when thou hast it by thee.

Не строй планов, которые повредят ближнему, потому что вы живёте рядом ради взаимной безопасности.

Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Не веди другого в суд без серьёзной на то причины. Не делай этого, если он не причинил тебе зла.

Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Иные люди быстро впадают в гнев и творят жестокости.

Envy not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.

Не будь таким, потому что Господь презирает злобных, но помни, что Он помогает добрым и честным.

For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; but his secret is with the upright.

Господь проклинает семьи злобных и благословляет дома праведников.

The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.

Если гордец насмехается над другими, то Господь унизит его, но добр Он к смиренным людям.

He indeed scorneth the scorners; but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Мудрые повинуются Богу, и потому Господь им почести воздаст. Глупые же Богу не следуют, и поэтому их покроет позор.

The wise shall inherit glory; but shame shall be the promotion of the foolish.
