Затем Иисус рассказал им следующую притчу, желая показать, что им нужно постоянно молиться и духом не падать:

And he spoke also a parable to them to the purport that they should always pray and not faint,

«В одном городе был судья, который и Бога не боялся, и людей не стыдился.

saying, There was a judge in a city, not fearing God and not respecting man:

В том же городе жила одна вдова, и она постоянно приходила к нему и просила: „Защити меня от обидчика1 моего!“

and there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adverse party.

Он долго отказывался, но потом сказал самому себе: „Хоть я Бога не боюсь и людей не стыжусь,

And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man,

но эта вдова не оставляет меня в покое. Заступлюсь за нее, чтобы она больше не приходила и не досаждала мне“».2

at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me.

И сказал Господь: «Послушайте, что говорит этот нечестивый судья!

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

Так неужели Бог не защитит тех, кого Он избрал, тех, кто взывает к Нему день и ночь? И станет ли Он медлить?3

And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?

Говорю вам, Он защитит их вскоре. Но когда придет Сын Человеческий, найдет ли Он веру на земле?»

I say unto you that he will avenge them speedily. But when the Son of man comes, shall he indeed find faith on the earth?

А тем, кто был уверен в своей праведности и свысока глядел на всех остальных, Иисус рассказал такую притчу:

And he spoke also to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and made nothing of all the rest [of men], this parable:

«Два человека зашли в Храм помолиться: один — фарисей, а другой — сборщик налогов.

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer.

Фарисей, встав впереди, молился про себя так: „Боже, благодарю тебя, что я не такой, как остальные люди — грабители, мошенники,4 прелюбодеи, да и не такой, как этот сборщик налогов:

The Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer.

пощусь два раза в неделю, отдаю десятую часть всего, что приобретаю“.

I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain.

А сборщик налогов, стоя поодаль, не смел даже глаз поднять к небу и бил себя в грудь, говоря: „Боже, прости мне, грешнику, вину мою!“5

And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.

Говорю вам, что он, а не фарисей, вернулся домой оправданным в глазах Божьих, ибо всякий, возвышающий себя, унижен будет, а принижающий себя6 — будет возвышен».

I say unto you, This [man] went down to his house justified rather than that [other]. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

Приносили к Нему и маленьких детей, чтобы Он благословлял их.7 Увидев это, ученики стали прогонять8 этих людей.

And they brought to him also infants that he might touch them, but the disciples when they saw [it] rebuked them.

Но Иисус, подозвав детей, сказал: «Пусть дети приходят ко Мне, не препятствуйте им, ибо Царство Божие — для таких, как они.

But Jesus calling them to [him] said, Suffer little children to come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God.

Поверьте Мне, кто не примет Царство Божие, как дитя, не войдет в него».

Verily I say to you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Один из начальников спросил Его: «Учитель добрый, что я должен делать, чтобы получить жизнь вечную?»

And a certain ruler asked him saying, Good teacher, having done what, shall I inherit eternal life?

Иисус спросил его: «Почему ты называешь Меня добрым? Никто не добр, кроме одного Бога.

But Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, God.

Ты знаешь заповеди: не прелюбодействуй, не убивай, не кради, не лжесвидетельствуй, почитай отца своего и мать?»9

Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

Тот ответил: «Всему этому я следую от юности своей ».

And he said, All these things have I kept from my youth.

Услышав это, Иисус сказал ему: «Тебе остается лишь одно. Продай всё, что есть у тебя, и раздай деньги нищим, вот тогда у тебя будет сокровище на небесах, а затем приходи и следуй за Мной».

And when Jesus had heard this, he said to him, One thing is lacking to thee yet: Sell all that thou hast and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.

Но он, услышав эти слова, сильно опечалился, потому что был очень богат.

But when he heard this he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

Увидев, [что он опечалился], Иисус сказал: «Как трудно людям, живущим в достатке, войти в Царство Божие!

But when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, he said, How difficultly shall those who have riches enter into the kingdom of God;

Легче верблюду пройти сквозь игольное ушко, чем войти богатому в Царство Божие».

for it is easier for a camel to enter through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

«Кто же тогда может спастись?» — спросили слушавшие Иисуса.

And those who heard it said, And who can be saved?

Он же ответил: «Людям невозможное Богу возможно».

But he said, The things that are impossible with men are possible with God.

Петр же сказал: «Ты знаешь, мы оставили всё свое и за Тобой последовали».

And Peter said, Behold, we have left all things and have followed thee.

На это Он ответил им: «Поверьте Мне, нет никого, кто, оставив дом, жену, братьев, родителей или детей ради Царства Божьего,

And he said to them, Verily I say to you, There is no one who has left home, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

не получил бы теперь, в это время, во много раз больше, а в веке грядущем — вечную жизнь».

who shall not receive manifold more at this time, and in the coming age life eternal.

Подозвав к Себе Двенадцать, Иисус сказал им: «Вот, мы подходим к Иерусалиму, и всё, что написано пророками о Сыне Человеческом, сбудется,

And he took the twelve to [him] and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written of the Son of man by the prophets shall be accomplished;

ибо отдадут10 Его в руки язычников и будут насмехаться над Ним и оскорблять Его, будет Он оплеван

for he shall be delivered up to the nations, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon.

и подвергнут бичеванию, после чего убьют Его, но на третий день Он воскреснет».

And when they have scourged [him] they will kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

Ученики же ничего из этого не поняли. Смысл сказанного остался сокрыт от них: не могли они понять того, о чем говорил Он им.

And they understood nothing of these things. And this word was hidden from them, and they did not know what was said.

Когда Он подходил к Иерихону, у дороги сидел какой-то слепой, прося подаяния.

And it came to pass when he came into the neighbourhood of Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside begging.

Услышав, что мимо проходит много людей, он спросил о происходящем.

And when he heard the crowd passing, he inquired what this might be.

Ему ответили, что Иисус Назарянин идет.

And they told him that Jesus the Nazaraean was passing by.

Тогда он закричал: «Иисус, Сын Давидов! Сжалься надо мной!»

And he called out saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

Шедшие впереди бранили его и заставляли молчать, но он кричал еще громче: «Сын Давидов! Сжалься надо мной!»

And those [who were] going before rebuked him that he might be silent; but he cried out so much the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.

Иисус остановился и велел привести его к Себе. И когда тот пришел, Иисус спросил его:

And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be led to him. And when he drew nigh he asked him [saying],

«Что ты хочешь? Что сделать для тебя?» Слепой ответил: «Господи, мне бы только видеть!»

What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.

И сказал ему Иисус: «Пусть откроются глаза твои! Вера твоя исцелила11 тебя».

And Jesus said to him, See: thy faith has healed thee.

И слепой тотчас прозрел и последовал за Ним, славя Бога. Увидев это, весь народ воздал хвалу Богу.

And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people when they saw [it] gave praise to God.
