B начале было Слово, и Слово было у Бога, и Слово было Богом.

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Оно было у Бога в начале.

He existed in the beginning with God.

Всё получило бытие через Него; не существует ничего, что пришло в бытие, получив бытие помимо Него.

God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

В Нём была жизнь, и эта жизнь была человеку светом.

The Word gave life to everything that was created,a and his life brought light to everyone.

И свет тот светит во тьме, и тьма не овладела им.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.b

Явился человек, посланный Богом, по имени Иоанн.

God sent a man, John the Baptist,c

Он пришёл поведать людям о Свете, чтобы все по его свидетельству поверили.

to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.

Он не был Светом, но пришел дать свидетельство о Свете.

John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.

Тот Свет был истинным Светом, который освещает каждого приходящего в мир человека.

The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Он был в мире, и мир через Него получил бытие, но мир Его не узнал.

He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him.

Он пришел к своим, но они Его не приняли.

He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.

А всем, кто Его принял, кто в Его Имя поверил, Он даровал право стать детьми Бога.

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Это те, кто родился не от плоти и крови, не от плотского вожделения и не по человеческой воле, а кто рожден Богом.

They are reborn — not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

И Слово стало плотью и среди нас поселилось. И мы увидели Его славу — славу Единственного у Отца, воплощенную Милость и Истину.

So the Word became humand and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.e And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Свидетель Ему Иоанн, возгласивший: — Это был Тот, о ком я сказал: «Идущий за мной опередил меня, ибо Он был, когда меня ещё не было».

John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’”

Мы все из Его полноты получили милость за милостью:

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.f

через Моисея был дан Закон, с Иисусом Помазанником пришли милость и истина.

For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

Никто никогда не видел Бога. Только Тот Единственный, Кто есть Бог, пребывающий в глубинах Отца, поведал о Нём.

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God,g is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

Вот свидетельство Иоанна. Когда евреи послали из Иерусалима священников и левитов спросить у него: — Кто ты?

This was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistantsh from Jerusalem to ask John, “Who are you?”

он, не уклонившись, признал: — Я — не Помазанник.

He came right out and said, “I am not the Messiah.”

Они спросили: — Так что же, ты Илия? Он сказал: — Нет. — Ты пророк? И он ответил: — Нет.

“Well then, who are you?” they asked. “Are you Elijah?” “No,” he replied. “Are you the Prophet we are expecting?”i “No.”

Они спросили: — Так кто ты? Мы должны дать ответ пославшим нас. Что ты можешь о себе сказать?

“Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?”

Он ответил: — Я, как говорил пророк Исайя, голос в пустыне: «проложите путь Господу».

John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah: “I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Clear the way for the LORD’s coming!’”j

А посланники были из фарисеев.

Then the Pharisees who had been sent

Они спросили его: — Почему же ты тогда омываешь, если ты не Помазанник, не Илия и не пророк?

asked him, “If you aren’t the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?”

Иоанн ответил: — Я омываю водой. Но стоит среди вас Тот, Кого вы не знаете.

John told them, “I baptize withk water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize.

Он идёт за мной, а я не достоин даже снять с Него обувь.

Though his ministry follows mine, I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal.”

Это было в Бет-Анийя, по ту сторону Иордана, где омывал Иоанн.

This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.

На другой день Иоанн увидел, что к нему идёт Иисус, и сказал: — Вот Агнец Божий, который уносит грех мира.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Это Тот, о ком я сказал: «За мной идёт Человек, опередивший меня, ибо Он был, когда меня ещё не было».

He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’

Не знал Его и я, но потому и пришел я омывать водой, чтобы Он открылся Израилю.

I did not recognize him as the Messiah, but I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel.”

Свидетельство Иоанна: — Я увидел, что Дух опускается с неба, как голубь, и на Нём остается.

Then John testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him.

Не знал Его и я, но Пославший меня омывать водой сказал: «На Кого, увидишь, опускается Дух и на Ком остается, знай — это Тот, кто омывает Святым Духом».

I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’

Я это видел и я — свидетель: Он — Сын Божий.

I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.l”

На следующий день опять там стоял Иоанн и двое его учеников. Это было в десятом часу.

The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples.

Взглянув на проходящего Иисуса, Иоанн сказал: — Вот Агнец Божий!

As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”

А двое его учеников, услышав эти слова, пошли за Иисусом.

When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.

Тот, обернувшись и заметив, что они идут за Ним, спросил: — Что вы ищете? Они ответили: — Рабби (что значит «учитель»), где Ты остановился?

Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

Иисус сказал: — Идите и посмотрите. Они пошли и увидели, где Он остановился, и тот день провели у Него.

“Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.

Один из двоих, услышавших слова Иоанна и пошедших за Иисусом, был Андрей, брат Шимона Петра.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.

Первым делом он разыскал своего брата Шимона и сказал ему: — Мы нашли Мешиху (что значит «Помазанника»), —

Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”m).

и привел его к Иисусу. Тот, взглянув на Шимона, сказал: — Ты — Шимон, Иоаннов сын! Будешь зваться Кефа (что значит «скала», или Пётр).

Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “Your name is Simon, son of John — but you will be called Cephas” (which means “Peter”n).

На другой день Иисус, собравшись уйти в Галилею, встретил Филиппа и сказал ему: — Иди за мной!

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Come, follow me.”

А Филипп был из Бет-Цаиды, родного города Андрея и Петра.

Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown.

Он разыскал Натанаэла и сказал: — Мы нашли Того, о Ком писал в Законе Моисей и возвещали пророки, Иисуса, сына Иосифа из Назарета!

Philip went to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moseso and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.”

Натанаэл усомнился: — Что хорошего ждать из Назарета! Филипп ответил: — Иди и посмотри!

“Nazareth!” exclaimed Nathanael. “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” “Come and see for yourself,” Philip replied.

Иисус, заметив, что к Нему идёт Натанаэл, сказал: — Вот настоящий израильтянин, человек бесхитростный!

As they approached, Jesus said, “Now here is a genuine son of Israel — a man of complete integrity.”

Натанаэл спросил: — Откуда Ты меня знаешь? Иисус ответил: — Когда ещё не позвал тебя Филипп, Я видел тебя под смоковницей.

“How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.”

Натанаэл воскликнул: — Рабби, Ты — Сын Божий, Ты — царь Израиля!

Then Nathanael exclaimed, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God — the King of Israel!”

Иисус ответил: — Не потому ли ты поверил, что Я сказал тебе: «Я видел тебя под смоковницей»? Увидишь и нечто большее, —

Jesus asked him, “Do you believe this just because I told you I had seen you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.”

и добавил: Истинно, истинно говорю вам, вы увидите раскрытое небо и Божьих ангелов, что поднимаются и спускаются к Сыну Человеческому.

Then he said, “I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth.p”
