You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Ты убо, чадо мое, возмогай во благодати, яже о Христе Иисусе,

The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

и яже слышал еси от мене многими свидетели, сия предаждь верным человеком, иже доволни будут и иных научити.

Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

Ты убо злопостражди яко добр воин Иисус Христов.

No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.

Никтоже (бо) воин бывая обязуется куплями житейскими, да воеводе угоден будет.

Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.

Аще же и постраждет кто, не венчается, аще не законно мучен будет.

The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.

Труждающемуся делателю прежде подобает от плода вкусити.

Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Разумей, яже глаголю: да даст убо тебе Господь разум о всем.

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,

Поминай (Господа) Иисуса Христа воставшаго от мертвых, от семене давидова, по благовествованию моему,

for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.

в немже злостражду даже до уз, яко злодей: но слово Божие не вяжется.

For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

Сего ради вся терплю избранных ради, да и тии спасение улучат еже о Христе Иисусе, со славою вечною.

It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;

Верно слово: аще бо с ним умрохом, то с ним и оживем:

If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

аще терпим, с ним и воцаримся: аще отвержемся, и той отвержется нас:

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

аще не веруем, он верен пребывает: отрещися бо себе не может.

Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

Сия воспоминай, засвидетелствуя пред Господем, не словопретися, ни на куюже потребу, на разорение слышащих.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Потщися себе искусна поставити пред Богом, делателя непостыдна, право правяща слово истины.

But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,

Скверных же тщегласий отметайся: наипаче бо преспеют в нечестие,

and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

и слово их яко гаггрена жир обрящет: от нихже есть именей и филит,

men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some.

иже о истине погрешиста, глаголюща, яко воскресение уже бысть: и возмущают некоторых веру.

Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”

Твердое убо основание Божие стоит, имущее печать сию: позна Господь сущыя своя, и: да отступит от неправды всяк именуяй имя Господне.

Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.

В велицем же дому не точию сосуди злати и сребряни суть, но и древяни и глиняни: и ови убо в честь, ови же не в честь.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

Аще убо кто очистит себе от сих, будет сосуд в честь, освящен и благопотребен Владыце, на всякое дело благое уготован.

Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Похотей юных бегай, держися же правды, веры, любве, мира со всеми призывающими Господа от чистаго сердца.

But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.

Буих же и ненаказанных стязаний отрицайся, ведый, яко раждают свары:

The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,

рабу же Господню не подобает сваритися, но тиху быти ко всем, учителну, незлобиву,

with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

с кротостию наказующу противныя, еда како даст им Бог покаяние в разум истины,

and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

и возникнут от диаволския сети, живи уловлени от него в свою его волю.
