Войдя в Иерихон, Иисус шел по городу,

And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

а там был некто по имени Заккай, глава местных откупщиков, человек очень богатый.

And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

Он хотел увидеть Иисуса, но ему мешала толпа, потому что он был невысокого роста.

And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

И вот, забежав вперёд, он забрался на сикомор, чтобы увидеть, как пройдет Иисус.

And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

Поравнявшись с тем местом, Иисус посмотрел наверх и сказал: — Заккай, немедленно спускайся, ибо сегодня Я буду гостем в твоем доме.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

И тот, сразу же спустившись вниз, радостно принял Его.

And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

Видя это, все роптали, недовольные тем, что Он остановился у грешника.

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

Но Заккай, поднявшись, сказал Господу: — Половину имущества, Господин мой, я сейчас же отдам беднякам, а если с кого взял лишнее, то возмещу ему вчетверо.

And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

Иисус сказал: — Сегодня в этом доме свершилось спасение. Ведь этот человек тоже потомок Авраама.

And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

А Сын Человеческий для того и пришел, чтобы найти и спасти погибших.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Они слушали, и Он рассказал ещё одну притчу, поскольку был уже близко к Иерусалиму и все ждали скорого наступления Царства Божьего.

And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

Иисус сказал: — Один знатный человек отправился в дальнюю страну, чтобы добиться царской власти, а потом вернуться.

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

Призвав десять своих рабов и вручив им десять мин серебра, он сказал: «Пустите их в оборот на то время, пока я в отъезде».

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Но подданные его ненавидели и отправили к нему посольство с заявлением: «Мы не хотим, чтобы этот человек был нашим царем».

But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

Царем его все же признали. Вернувшись домой, он вызвал слуг, которым дал деньги, и спросил, какой они получили доход.

And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

Первый слуга, явившись, сказал: «Господин, твоя мина принесла доход в десять мин».

Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

Хозяин сказал: «Отлично, мой верный слуга! Раз ты оказался надёжен в малом, то получи в управление десять городов».

And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

Второй слуга пришел и сказал: «Твоя мина, хозяин, дала прибыль в пять мин».

And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

Хозяин сказал: «Получи пять городов».

And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

Третий слуга пришел и сказал: «Господин, вот твоя мина, я хранил ее в платке.

And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

Я боялся тебя, ибо ты очень строг. Ты любитель брать то, что не клал, и снимать урожай там, где не сеял».

For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

Хозяин сказал: «Негодный раб, твои же слова тебя обличают! Ты ведь знал, что я строг и люблю брать то, что не клал, и снимать урожай там, где не сеял.

And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

Почему же ты не отдал мои деньги в рост, чтобы, вернувшись, я получил от них прибыль?»

Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

И он велел стоящим рядом: «Отберите у него мину и отдайте имеющему десять мин».

And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

Те возразили: «Господин, у него и так уже есть десять!»

(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

Он ответил: «Говорю вам, что всякому, кто имеет, дадут еще, а у неимущего отнимут и то, что у него есть.

For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

И ещё: врагов моих, которые не желали, чтобы я был их царем, приведите сюда и тут же, у меня на глазах, казните».

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Рассказав это, Иисус пошел дальше, к Иерусалиму.

And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

Подходя к Бет-Паге и Бет-Анийя, достигнув так называемой Масличной горы, Он послал вперед двух учеников, велев им:

And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

— Отправляйтесь в ту деревню, что перед вами. Там вы найдете необъезженного ослёнка; отвяжите его и приведите сюда.

Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

Если вас спросят, зачем вы его отвязываете, отвечайте: «Он нужен Господу».

And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

Посланные пошли и нашли то, о чём им было сказано.

And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

Когда они отвязывали ослёнка, его хозяева спросили их: «Зачем вы его отвязываете?»

And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

Они ответили: «Он нужен Господу».

And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

Затем они привели ослёнка к Иисусу и, набросив на ослёнка свои одежды, помогли Иисусу сесть на него верхом.

And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

Иисус ехал, и люди расстилали перед Ним на дороге свои одежды.

And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

А когда Он достиг спуска с Масличной горы, целая толпа учеников начала громко и радостно славить Бога за те чудеса, которые им довелось увидеть:

And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

Благословен Царь, грядущий во имя Господне! Мир в небесах, слава на высотах!

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

Некоторые из фарисеев, что были в толпе, сказали Иисусу: — Учитель, вели Своим ученикам замолчать.

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

Он ответил: — Говорю вам, даже если они замолчат, вместо них начнут восклицать вот эти камни!

And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Когда Он подъехал к Иерусалиму и увидел город, то заплакал о нём

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

и сказал: — О если бы ты хоть сегодня понял, что может принести тебе мир! Но это от тебя сокрыто.

Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

Придет время, и враги окружат тебя валом, отовсюду обложат осадой.

For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

Они сравняют тебя с землей и перебьют твоих жителей, даже младенцев, не оставив в тебе даже камня на камне, — за то, что ты не смог распознать часа, когда пришел к тебе Бог.

And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

Войдя в Храм, Он принялся изгонять оттуда торгующих.

And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

Он говорил им: — В Писании сказано: «И станет Дом Мой местом молитвы». А вы превратили его в разбойничий притон!

Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Он каждый день проповедовал в Храме, а первосвященники, книжники и виднейшие люди искали случая Его погубить.

And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

Но они ничего не могли с Ним поделать, потому что народ жадно слушал Его.

And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
