Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.

Все вместе они поднялись и отвели Иисуса к Пилату.

And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting [a]the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

Там они стали его обвинять:— Мы установили, что этот человек подстрекает наш народ, запрещает платить подати Цезарю, а Себя называет Помазанным Царем.

Then Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him and said, “It is as you say.”

Пилат спросил Иисуса:— Ты — царь иудеев?Тот отвечал ему:— Это ты так говоришь.

So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.”

Тогда Пилат сказал первосвященникам и всему народу:— Я не нахожу за этим человеком никакой вины.

But they were the more fierce, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.”

Но те настаивали:— Он Своими проповедями подбивает на бунт народ по всей Иудее, сначала в Галилее, а теперь и здесь.

When Pilate heard [b]of Galilee, he asked if the Man were a Galilean.

Когда Пилат услышал о Галилее, он переспросил:— Так этот человек — галилеянин?

And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.

Поняв, что Он из области, подчиненной Ироду, Пилат отправил Иисуса к Ироду — он в те дни был в Иерусалиме.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.

А Ирод, увидев Иисуса, очень обрадовался, ведь он много о Нем слышал и уже давно хотел Его повидать, надеясь, что Тот покажет ему какое-нибудь знамение.

Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.

Так что Ирод задал Иисусу множество вопросов, но Тот ни на один не ответил.

And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him.

А первосвященники и книжники стояли рядом и наперебой Его обвиняли.

Then Herod, with his [c]men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

Тогда Ирод вместе со своими воинами подверг Иисуса унижениям и насмешкам, одел Его в нарядную одежду и отослал обратно к Пилату.

That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.

И с этого дня Ирод и Пилат стали друзьями, а прежде между ними была вражда.

Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

Пилат созвал первосвященников, правителей и простой народ

said to them, “You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him;

и сказал им:— Вы привели ко мне этого Человека и обвинили Его в подстрекательстве народа. Я в вашем присутствии разобрал Его дело и обнаружил, что Он не виновен в том, в чем вы Его обвиняете.

no, neither did Herod, for [d]I sent you back to him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.

И даже Ирод отослал Его к нам обратно. Итак, за Ним нет никаких поступков, достойных смерти.

I will therefore chastise Him and release Him”

Так что я Его накажу и отпущу

(for[e] it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast).

(а ведь Пилату надо было отпустить им кого-нибудь ради праздника).

And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas” —

Но все как один стали кричать:— Казни Его, отпусти нам Варавву!

who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.

А Варавва был посажен в тюрьму за то, что устроил в городе мятеж и совершил убийство.

Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.

И вот Пилат снова во весь голос предложил им отпустить Иисуса.

But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”

Но те лишь кричали:— Распни, распни его!

Then he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.”

В третий раз Пилат им сказал:— Что же дурного сделал этот Человек? Я не нашел за Ним никакой вины, достойной смерти. Итак, я Его накажу и отпущу.

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men [f]and of the chief priests prevailed.

Но те всё громче и громче требовали распять Иисуса — они перекричали Пилата,

So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.

и он решил согласиться с их требованием.

And he released [g]to them the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

Пилат, как они просили, отпустил человека, посаженного в тюрьму за мятеж и убийство, а Иисусу вынес желанный для них приговор.

Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.

И когда Его повели на казнь, взяли Симона из Кирены, положили ему на плечи крест и заставили его нести за Иисусом.

And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him.

За Ним шло множество народа, женщины били себя в грудь и оплакивали Его.

But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

Иисус, обернувшись к ним, сказал:— Дочери Иерусалима, рыдайте не обо Мне — рыдайте о себе самих и собственных детях!

For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!’

Приходят дни, когда скажут: «Благо бесплодным женам, что детей не рожали и грудью не кормили!»

Then they will begin ‘to say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!” ’

Станут тогда говорить горам: «падите на нас!», — и холмам: «Укройте нас!»

For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”

Если так поступают с зеленеющим деревом, что же будет с засохшим?

There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death.

Вместе с Ним на казнь повели еще двух преступников.

And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.

Так они пришли на место под названием «Лобное», и там распяли Иисуса вместе с двумя преступниками: одного справа, а другого слева от Него.

[h]Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Иисус сказал:— Отец, прости их, они не понимают, что творят.А они разделили Его одежду по жребию.

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”

Народ стоял вокруг и смотрел. Правители издевались над Ним и приговаривали:— Спасал других — так пусть теперь спасет Себя, если Он Христос, избранный Сын Божий.

The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,

Насмехались над ним и воины: подходили и протяигвали ему кислое питье

and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”

со словами:— Если ты царь иудеев, спаси Себя Сам!

And an inscription also was [i]written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Над Ним была надпись: «Это царь иудеев».

Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, [j]“If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

Один из преступников, которые висели на соседних крестах, поносил Его:— Ты же Христос — так спаси Себя и нас!

But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

А другой пытался его унять и говорил:— Бога ты не боишься! Ты сам приговорен к тому же.

And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”

Но мы-то справедливо, мы получаем по заслугам. А Он ничего дурного не сделал!

Then he said [k]to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

И добавил:— Иисус, вспомни обо мне, когда придешь и настанет Твое царство!

And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Тот ответил:— Аминь говорю тебе: сегодня будешь со Мной в раю.

Now it [l]was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Было уже около полудня, как всю землю покрыла тьма и держалась три часа.

Then the sun was [m]darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in [n]two.

Солнце померкло, завеса в Храме разорвалась посредине,

And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last.

а Иисус громко закричал:— Отец, в Твои руки отдаю Свой дух!

So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”

А центурион, увидев, что произошло, прославил Бога и сказал:— Действительно этот Человек был праведником!

And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.

И когда вся толпа, собравшаяся на это посмотреть, увидела, что произошло, люди стали бить себя в грудь и разошлись.

But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

Поодаль стояли лишь те, кто близко знал Иисуса. Там были и женщины, которые следовали за Иисусом еще в Галилее — они тоже смотрели на это.

Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.

Был один человек по имени Иосиф, член Совета, но при этом добрый и честный,

He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who[o] himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God.

так что он не согласился с тем, что Совет задумал и сделал. Он происходил из иудейского города Аримафея и ожидал наступления Царства Божьего.

This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

И вот он пришел к Пилату и попросил отдать ему тело Иисуса.

Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.

Он снял тело с креста, завернул в плащаницу и положил в гробнице, высеченной в камне, в которой еще никто не был похоронен.

That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.

Это была пятница — день подготовки к субботе.

And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.

А женщины, которые пришли вслед за Иисусом из Галилеи, видели и эту гробницу, и как туда положили Его тело.

Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Вернувшись домой, они приготовили благовонные мази и масла, а в субботу пребывали в покое, как заповедано.
