Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.

Then they bound him, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.

И связав, отвели и передали Его Пилату, правителю.

When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders.

Когда Иуда, предавший Иисуса, увидел, что Его осудили, то раскаялся и возвратил тридцать сребреников первосвященникам и старейшинам,

“I have sinned,” he declared, “for I have betrayed an innocent man.” “What do we care?” they retorted. “That’s your problem.”

сказав: "Согрешил я, предав кровь невинную". Но они сказали: "Что нам до этого? Это твоя забота!"

Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

Тогда он бросил серебряные монеты в храме, пошёл и повесился.

The leading priests picked up the coins. “It wouldn’t be right to put this money in the Temple treasury,” they said, “since it was payment for murder.”a

Первосвященники же подобрали монеты и сказали: "Не по закону это класть их в храмовую копилку, ибо это цена крови".

After some discussion they finally decided to buy the potter’s field, and they made it into a cemetery for foreigners.

Посоветовавшись, они купили на эти деньги участок земли, называвшийся Полем Горшечника, чтобы там хоронить чужестранцев.

That is why the field is still called the Field of Blood.

По этой причине поле это и по сей день называется Кровавым Полем.

This fulfilled the prophecy of Jeremiah that says, “They tookb the thirty pieces of silver — the price at which he was valued by the people of Israel,

Так исполнилось пророчество, изречённое Иеремией: "И взяли они тридцать сребреников, цену Того, Чью цену определили сыны Израиля

and purchased the potter’s field, as the LORD directed.c”

и отдали их за поле горшечника, как указал мне Господь".

Now Jesus was standing before Pilate, the Roman governor. “Are you the king of the Jews?” the governor asked him. Jesus replied, “You have said it.”

Иисус предстал перед правителем, и правитель спросил Его: "Ты-Царь Иудейский?" Иисус ответил ему: "Ты говоришь".

But when the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent.

А когда обвиняли Его первосвященники и старейшины, то Он им ничего не отвечал.

“Don’t you hear all these charges they are bringing against you?” Pilate demanded.

Тогда Пилат сказал Ему: "Разве Ты не слышишь все эти обвинения против Тебя?"

But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.

Но Он не ответил ему ни на одно обвинение, так что правитель был весьма удивлён.

Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner to the crowd — anyone they wanted.

На праздник Пасхи правитель по обычаю отпускал одного из заключённых, за которого просил народ.

This year there was a notorious prisoner, a man named Barabbas.d

В то время в тюрьме был известный преступник по имени Варавва.

As the crowds gathered before Pilate’s house that morning, he asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you — Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

И когда все собрались, Пилат спросил у них: "Кого хотите, чтобы я освободил вам: Варавву или Иисуса, называемого Христом?"

(He knew very well that the religious leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy.)

Ибо он знал, что только из зависти доставили Его к нему.

Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Leave that innocent man alone. I suffered through a terrible nightmare about him last night.”

В то время как Пилат заседал в суде, его жена прислала к нему слугу сказать: "Устранись от дела Этого Праведника, ибо прошлой ночью приснился мне сон про Него, и я очень встревожена".

Meanwhile, the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death.

Но первосвященники и старейшины убедили толпу просить за Варавву, а Иисуса предать смерти.

So the governor asked again, “Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back, “Barabbas!”

Тогда правитель спросил их: "Кого из двоих хотите, чтоб я отпустил вам?" И они сказали: "Варавву".

Pilate responded, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” They shouted back, “Crucify him!”

Пилат сказал им: "Что сделать мне с Иисусом, называемым Христом?" И они все сказали: "Пусть распнут Его!"

“Why?” Pilate demanded. “What crime has he committed?” But the mob roared even louder, “Crucify him!”

Пилат спросил: "Почему? Что сделал Он плохого?" Но они продолжали кричать ещё громче: "Пусть распнут Его!"

Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

И Пилат, видя, что он ничего не достигнет и что может начаться бунт, взял воды и на глазах толпы умыл руки, сказав: "Я не повинен в крови Этого Человека, решайте сами".

And all the people yelled back, “We will take responsibility for his death — we and our children!”e

И народ ответил: "Пусть кровь Его падёт на нас и на детей наших!"

So Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

И тогда он отпустил Варавву, Иисуса же приказал избить плетью и отвести на распятие.

Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquartersf and called out the entire regiment.

Тогда солдаты правителя отвели Иисуса во дворец правителя, и собрался вокруг Него весь полк.

They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.

Они раздели Его донага и надели на Него багровые одежды.

They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”

Они свили из терния венок, надели Ему на голову, дали в руки Ему посох и, издеваясь над Иисусом, бросились перед Ним на колени, со словами: "Слава Тебе, Царь Иудейский!"

And they spit on him and grabbed the stick and struck him on the head with it.

И плевали они в Него, а потом взяли посох из руки Его и стали бить Его по голове.

When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

Наиздевавшись вдоволь, они сняли с Него багровые одежды, надели на Него собственную его одежду и повели на распятие.

Along the way, they came across a man named Simon, who was from Cyrene,g and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross.

И проходя, повстречали они одного киринеянина по имени Симон и заставили его нести крест Его.

And they went out to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”).

И когда пришли к месту под названием Голгофа, что означает "Лобное место",

The soldiers gave Jesus wine mixed with bitter gall, but when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it.

то дали Ему выпить вина, смешанного с жёлчью, Он же, попробовав, отказался его пить.

After they had nailed him to the cross, the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.h

И распяв Его, бросили между собой жребий, кому что достанется из Его одежды,

Then they sat around and kept guard as he hung there.

а потом сели и стали наблюдать за Ним.

A sign was fastened above Jesus’ head, announcing the charge against him. It read: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

А над головой у Него укрепили доску со словами обвинения против Него: "Иисус, Царь Иудейский".

Two revolutionariesi were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

Одновременно с Ним распяты были два разбойника, один справа, а другой слева от Него.

The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their heads in mockery.

И проходившие мимо выкрикивали оскорбления, кивая в Его сторону

“Look at you now!” they yelled at him. “You said you were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then, if you are the Son of God, save yourself and come down from the cross!”

и говоря: "Эй, Ты, Который собирался разрушить храм и восстановить его в три дня, спаси же Себя. Если Ты Сын Божий, сойди с креста!"

The leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders also mocked Jesus.

И первосвященники вместе с законоучителями и старейшинами тоже издевались над Ним, говоря:

“He saved others,” they scoffed, “but he can’t save himself! So he is the King of Israel, is he? Let him come down from the cross right now, and we will believe in him!

"Он спасал других, а Себя спасти не может. Он — Царь Израильский, так пусть теперь сойдёт с креста, и мы уверуем в Него!

He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

Он верит в Бога, так пусть же Бог спасёт Его теперь, если Он Ему угоден, ибо сказал Он: "Я — Сын Божий".

Even the revolutionaries who were crucified with him ridiculed him in the same way.

И разбойники, распятые вместе с Ним, тоже осыпали Его оскорблениями.

At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.

В полдень опустилась тьма на землю и не рассеивалась до трёх часов.

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,j lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”k

А около трёх часов Иисус воскликнул громким голосом: "Эли, эли, лама савахфани?", что означает: "Боже Мой, Боже Мой, для чего Ты покинул Меня?"

Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.

Некоторые из тех, кто стоял поблизости, услышав это, сказали: "Этот человек взывает к Илие!"

One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink.

И тут же один из них побежал, намочил губку в кислом вине, надел её на палку и дал Ему пить.

But the rest said, “Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”l

Но остальные говорили: "Оставь Его в покое. Посмотрим, появится ли Илия, чтобы спасти Его?"

Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit.

И ещё раз закричал Иисус громким голосом и испустил дух.

At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart,

И тут же разорвалась надвое завеса храма сверху донизу, и всколыхнулась земля, и раскололись камни,

and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.

и открылись гробницы, и воскресло множество усопших святых,

They left the cemetery after Jesus’ resurrection, went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.

и, выйдя из гробниц своих после воскресения Его, они пришли в святой город и явились множеству людей.

The Roman officerm and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!”

Центурион и те, кто вместе с ним сторожил Иисуса, при виде землетрясения и всех других происшествий очень перепугались и говорили: "Воистину это был Сын Божий!"

And many women who had come from Galilee with Jesus to care for him were watching from a distance.

Издалека наблюдали за этим и многие женщины, которые пришли с Иисусом из Галилеи, чтобы прислуживать Ему.

Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James and Joseph), and the mother of James and John, the sons of Zebedee.

И была среди них Мария Магдалина, а также Мария, мать Иакова и Иосифа, и мать сыновей Зеведея.

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,

Когда наступил вечер, пришёл из Аримафеи один богач по имени Иосиф, который тоже был учеником Иисуса.

went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him.

Он пришёл к Пилату и попросил у него, чтобы тот отдал ему Тело Иисуса. Пилат приказал, чтобы Тело Иисуса отдали ему.

Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth.

Иосиф взял Тело, завернул Его в чистый льняной покров,

He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.

положил Его в свою собственную новую гробницу, высеченную в скале, привалил большой камень ко входу в гробницу и ушёл.

Both Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting across from the tomb and watching.

А Мария Магдалина и другая Мария сели напротив гробницы.

The next day, on the Sabbath,n the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate.

Всё это случилось в день приготовления. На следующий день первосвященники и фарисеи пришли к Пилату

They told him, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise from the dead.’

и сказали: "Господин, мы вспомнили, что тот обманщик, когда был жив, сказал: "Через три дня воскресну".

So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone he was raised from the dead! If that happens, we’ll be worse off than we were at first.”

Поэтому прикажи хорошенько охранять гробницу до наступления третьего дня, чтобы не пришли Его ученики и не выкрали Тело и не сказали всем: "Он воскрес из мёртвых". Тогда последний Его обман будет хуже первого".

Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can.”

Пилат сказал им: "С вами стражники, пойдите и охраняйте её, как знаете".

So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it.

Они пошли, наглухо закрыли гробницу, запечатали её и оставили там стражу.
