Як шмат хто ўзяўся напісаць нарыс праз сталыя здарэньні памеж нас,

Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us,

Як перадалі нам тыя, што спачатку вочнікамі а слугачымі Слова былі, —

just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word,

Здалося й імне добрым, дасьледаваўшы ўсе з належнага жарала, акуратна а з парадку напісаць тэ праз гэта, найпачэсьліўшы Хахілю,

it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus;

Каб ты добра ведаў пэўнасьць таго, чаго ты быў навучаны.

so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.

За дзён Гірада, караля Юдэйскага, быў адзін сьвятар, імям Захара, зь дзянное радоўкі Авінае, і жонка ягоная была з дачок Ааронавых, і імя ейнае Альжбета.

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

Яны абое былі справядлівыя перад Богам, ходзячы ў вусіх расказаньнях а пастановах Спадаровых без заганы.

They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.

Але ня мелі дзяцяці, бо Альжбета была бясплодная, і абое былі ацяжараныя гадамі.

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in years.

І сталася, як ён правіў сьвятарскі ўрад перад Богам у парадку свае радоўкі,

Now it happened that while he was performing his priestly service before God in the appointed order of his division,

Подле звычаю сьвятарскага ўраду, было яму жэрабя кадзіць, як ён увыйшоў у Дом Спадароў;

according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

А ўся множасьць люду малілася вонках у часе кадзеньня, —

And the whole multitude of the people were in prayer outside at the hour of the incense offering.

І зьявіўся яму ангіл Спадароў, стоячы паправе аброчніка кадзеньня.

And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.

І стрывожыўся Захара, абачыўшы, і ляк абняў яго.

Zacharias was troubled when he saw the angel, and fear gripped him.

Але ангіл Спадароў сказаў яму: «Не лякайся, Захара; бо просьба твая пачута, і Альжбета, жонка твая, зачнець табе сына, і назавеш імя яго: Яан.

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will give him the name John.

І табе будзе радасьць а весялосьць, і шмат хто будзе цешыцца з нараджэньня яго.

“You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.

Бо ён будзе вялікі ў ваччу Спадаровым, і ня будзе піць віна ані хмельнага напітку, і напоўніцца Духам Сьвятым нават ад жывата маці свае.

“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.

І шмат каго зь дзяцей Ізраелявых наверне да Спадара, Бога іхнага.

“And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.

І ён пойдзе перад Ім у духу а магутнасьці Ільлінае, каб зьвярнуць сэрцы бацькоў да дзяцей і няслухменых да мудрасьці справядлівых, каб выгадаваць Спадару люд прыгатаваны».

“It is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, TO TURN THE HEARTS OF THE FATHERS BACK TO THE CHILDREN, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

І сказаў Захара ангілу: «З чаго я пазнаю гэта? бо я ўжо стары, і жонка мая вельма ацяжараная днямі».

Zacharias said to the angel, “How will I know this for certain? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years.”

І, адказуючы, ангіл сказаў яму: «Я Гаўрэль, каторы стаю ў прытомнасьці Божай, і я быў пасланы казаць табе, і прынесьці табе дабравесьць.

The angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.

І вось, ты будзеш бязмоўны, і ня будзеш магчы гукаць аж да дня, калі гэта станецца, бо ты не паверыў словам маім, каторыя споўняцца ўпару».

“And behold, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”

Люд жа чакаў Захары й дзіваваўся, што ён так длякаецца ў Доме Божым.

The people were waiting for Zacharias, and were wondering at his delay in the temple.

І, як ён вышаў, ня мог гукаць да іх; і яны пазналі, што ён відзеў відзень у Доме Божым, бо ён ківаў ім; і застаўся немы.

But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them; and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple; and he kept making signs to them, and remained mute.

І сталася, што, як скончыліся дні адправы ягонае, ён адышоў да дому свайго.

When the days of his priestly service were ended, he went back home.

А па тых днёх зачала Альжбета, жонка ягоная, і таілася пяць месяцаў, кажучы:

After these days Elizabeth his wife became pregnant, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying,

«Гэтак імне ўчыніў Спадар за дзён, калі глянуў, каб зьняць ганьбу маю памеж людзёў».

“This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor upon me, to take away my disgrace among men.”

А шостага месяца пасланы быў ад Бога ангіл Гаўрэль да места Ґалілейскага, званага Назарэт,

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,

Да дзявушчае, заручанае з чалавекам, каторага імя было Язэп, з дому Давідавага, а дзявушчае імя: Марыя.

to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

І, увыйшоўшы да яе, ангіл сказаў: «Здарова, ласкаю абдараваная! Спадар із табою; дабраславёная ты памеж жанок».

And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”

Яна ж, абачыўшы яго, парушылася на слова ягонае й разважала, што гэта было б за здарованьне.

But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.

І сказаў ёй ангіл: «Ня бойся, Марыя, бо ты прыдбала ласку ў Бога.

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.

І вось, зачнеш у жываце, і народзіш Сына, і назавеш імя Ягонае: Ісус.

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

Ён будзе вялікі і назавецца Сынам Навышняга, і Спадар Бог дасьць Яму пасад Давідаў, айца Ягонага;

“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;

І будзе гаспадарстваваць у доме Якававым навекі, і гаспадарству Ягонаму ня будзе канца».

and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

І сказала Марыя ангілу: «Як гэта будзе, калі я мужа ня знаю?»

Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

І, адказуючы, ангіл сказаў ёй: «Дух Сьвяты зыйдзе на Цябе, і моц Навышняга засьціць табе; затым і народжанае сьвятое назавецца Сынам Божым.

The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

І вось, сваячка твая Альжбета, званая бясплоднай, і яна зачала сына ў старасьці сваёй, і гэты ё шосты месяц ёй, званай бясплоднай.

“And behold, even your relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age; and she who was called barren is now in her sixth month.

Бо ў Бога нічога няма немагчымага».

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

І Марыя сказала: «Вось, служэбка Спадарова; хай будзе імне подле слова Твайго». І ангіл адышоў ад яе.

And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

І ўстаўшы Марыя тых дзён, з пасьпехам пайшла да гаравое краіны, да места Юдзінага.

Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah,

І ўвыйшла ў дом Захарын, і паздаровала Альжбету.

and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

І сталася, як пачула Альжбета здарованьне Марыіна, што скранулася дзяцянё ў жываце ейным, і Альжбета напоўнілася Духам Сьвятым,

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

І загукала вялікім голасам, і сказала: «Дабраславёная ты памеж жанок, і дабраславёны плод жывата твайго.

And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

І скуль гэта імне, што прышла маці Спадара майго да мяне?

“And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?

Бо, гля, як толькі гук здарованьня твайго загучэў у вушшу маім, скранулася з радасьці дзецянётка ў жываце маім.

“For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.

І дабраславёная тая, што паверыла, бо зьдзеецца сказанае ёй ад Спадара».

“And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”

І сказала Марыя: «Узьвялічае душа мая Спадара;

And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord,

І ўсьцешыі’ся дух мой у Вогу, Спасу маім;

And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

Бо глянуў Ён на паніжэньне служэбкі Свае; вось, адгэтуль за шчасьлівую мяне будуць мець усі роды;

“For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave; For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.

Бо ўчыніў імне вялічча Дужы; і сьвятое імя Ягонае;

“For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name.

І міласэрдзе Ягонае ад роду да роду да тых, што баяцца Яго.

“AND HIS MERCY IS UPON GENERATION AFTER GENERATION TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM.

Зьдзеяў моц цаўём Сваім; расьцярушыў пыхатых падумкамі сэрца іхнага;

“He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart.

Ськінуў дужых із пасадаў і павышыў паніжаных.

“He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble.

Напоўніў прагнучых дабром, а багатых адаслаў пустых.

“HE HAS FILLED THE HUNGRY WITH GOOD THINGS; And sent away the rich empty-handed.

Памог Ізраелю, слузе Свайму, памятуючы на міласэрдзе,

“He has given help to Israel His servant, In remembrance of His mercy,

Як казаў айцом нашым, Абрагаму а насеньню ягонаму навекі».

As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his descendants forever.”

І заставалася Марыя зь ёй каля трох месяцаў, і зьвярнулася да дому свайго.

And Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her home.

Альжбеце ж выпаўніўся час радзіць, і яна нарадзіла сына.

Now the time had come for Elizabeth to give birth, and she gave birth to a son.

І пачулі суседзі а сваякі ейныя, як Спадар узьвялічыў міласэрдзе над ёй, і цешыліся зь ёю.

Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had displayed His great mercy toward her; and they were rejoicing with her.

І сталася, што на восьмы дзень прышлі абразаць дзецянё і звалі яго, подле імені айца ягонага, Захара.

And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to call him Zacharias, after his father.

Але маці ягоная, адказуючы, сказала: «Не, але названы будзе Яанам».

But his mother answered and said, “No indeed; but he shall be called John.”

І сказалі ёй: «Нікога няма ў родзе тваім, каб быў названы гэтым імям».

And they said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by that name.”

І паказавалі знакамі айцу ягонаму, як бы яго хацеў назваць.

And they made signs to his father, as to what he wanted him called.

А ён, папрасіўшы дошчачкі, напісаў, кажучы: «Яан імя ягонае». І дзіваваліся ўсі.

And he asked for a tablet and wrote as follows, “His name is John.” And they were all astonished.

І якга адчыніліся вусны ягоныя а язык ягоны, і ён гукаў, хвалячы Бога.

And at once his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he began to speak in praise of God.

І напаў страх на ўеіх, што жылі навокал іх, і па ўсёй гаравой краіне Юдэі гукалі ўсі гэтыя словы.

Fear came on all those living around them; and all these matters were being talked about in all the hill country of Judea.

І ўсі, што чулі, складалі ў сэрцах сваіх, кажучы: «Што за дзецянё гэта будзе!» І запраўды рука Спадарова была зь ім.

All who heard them kept them in mind, saying, “What then will this child turn out to be?” For the hand of the Lord was certainly with him.

І Захара, айцец ягоны, напоўніўся Духам Сьвятым і праракаў, кажучы:

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:

«Дабраславёны Спадар, Бог Ізраеляў, што даведаўся й зьдзеяў адкупленьне люду Свайму;

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,

І ўзьняў рог спасеньня нам у доме Давіда, слугі Свайго;

And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of David His servant —

Як казаў вуснамі сьвятых прарокаў Сваіх, што былі ад веку,

As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old —

Праз спасеньне нас ад варагоў нашых і ад рукі ўсіх ненавідзячых нас;

Salvation FROM OUR ENEMIES, And FROM THE HAND OF ALL WHO HATE US;

Што зьдзее міласэрдзе айцом нашым і ўспомне сьвятую ўмову Сваю,

To show mercy toward our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant,

Прысягу, што Ён прысягнуў Абрагаму, айцу нашаму, даць нам,

The oath which He swore to Abraham our father,

Каб бяз страху, з рукі непрыяцеляў сваіх вывальненыя, служылі Яму

To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear,

Ў сьвятасьці а справядлівасьці перад Ім усі дні жыцьця свайго.

In holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

І ты, дзецянё, назавешся прарокам Навышняга, бо пойдзеш перад відам Спадаровым, гатаваць дарогі Ягоныя,

“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS;

Даць пазнаньне спасеньня люду Ягонаму ў дараваньню грахоў іхных,

To give to His people the knowledge of salvation By the forgiveness of their sins,

Пераз чульлівае міласэрдзе Бога нашага, як із вышыні Золак даведаўся да нас,

Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us,

Даць сьвятло седзячым у цямноце а ў сьценю сьмерці, кіраваць ногі нашыя на дарогу супакою».

TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”

А дзяцё расло а дужэла духам, і было на пустынях аж да дня паказаньня свайго Ізраелю.

And the child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit, and he lived in the deserts until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
