Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

Паколькі многія ўжо спрабавалі скласці аповед пра падзеі, якія ў нас адбыліся,

Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

як пераказалі нам тыя, што ад пачатку самі бачылі і былі паслугачамі Слова,

It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

таксама і я, старанна разгледзеўшы ўсё ад пачатку, рашыўся па парадку апісаць табе, годны Тэафіле,

That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

каб ты ўсведаміў непарушнасць слоў, у якіх ты быў навучаны.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

У дні Ірада, цара Юдэі, жыў адзін святар на імя Захарыя, з Абіявай чаргі. Ён меў жонку, з дачок Ааронавых, імя яе Лізавета.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Яны абое былі справядлівымі перад Богам, беззаганна спаўняючы ўсе пастановы і прыказанні Госпадавы.

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

Ды не мелі дзіця, бо Лізавета была няплоднай, а абое былі ўжо на схіле дзён сваіх.

And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

І сталася, калі ён адбываў службу святарскую перад Богам у сваёй чарзе,

According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

па жэрабі, як была традыцыя ў святароў, выпала яму ўвайсці ў святыню Госпадаву для каджэння,

And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

а ўсё мноства народа ў час каджэння малілася звонку.

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

І з’явіўся перад ім Анёл Госпадаў, стоячы па правым баку ахвярніка каджэння,

And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

дык Захарыя стрывожыўся, бачачы [гэта], ды [вялікі] страх ахапіў яго.

But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Тады Анёл прамовіў да яго: «Не бойся, Захарыя, бо пачута маленне тваё, вось жа, жонка твая Лізавета народзіць табе сына, і назавеш яго Янам.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Ды будзе табе радасць і пацеха, ды многія будуць радавацца з яго нараджэння.

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

Ён будзе вялікім на віду Госпада, і не будзе піць віна і сіцэры, ды яшчэ ад улоння маці сваёй будзе напоўнены Духам Святым,

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

і многіх сыноў Ізраэля наверне да Госпада, Бога іх.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

І пройдзе перад Ім у духу і магутнасці Іллі, каб звярнуць сэрцы бацькоў да дзяцей, а непаслухмяных — да мудрасці справядлівых, каб падгатаваць Госпаду народ падрыхтаваны».

And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

І сказаў Захарыя Анёлу: «З чаго я магу гэта ведаць? Бо я стары, і жонка мая на схіле дзён сваіх».

And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

І, адказваючы, сказаў яму Анёл: «Я — Габрыэль, што стаю перад Богам, і пасланы гаварыць з табою і абвясціць табе гэтую радасную вестку.

And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

І вось, ты будзеш нямым ды не будзеш магчы гаварыць аж да дня, у які гэта здзейсніцца, таму што ты не паверыў словам маім, якія збудуцца ў свой час».

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

І народ чакаў Захарыю, і дзівіліся, што ён так доўга марудзіць у святыні.

And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

Выйшаўшы, ён не мог да іх прамаўляць, дык пазналі, што ён бачыў з’яву ў святыні. А ён падаваў ім знакі і заставаўся нямым.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

І сталася, калі скончыліся дні службы яго, ён вярнуўся ў дом свой.

And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

А праз некалькі дзён жонка яго, Лізавета, пачала дзіця; і пяць месяцаў хавалася, кажучы:

Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

«Гэта ўчыніў мне Госпад у дні, у якія зірнуў на мяне, каб зняць ганьбу маю сярод людзей».

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

А ў шосты месяц быў пасланы Богам Анёл Габрыэль у горад у Галілеі, званы Назарэт,

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

да Дзевы, заручанай мужу, які меў імя Язэп, з дому Давіда, а імя Дзевы — Марыя.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Увайшоўшы да Яе, Анёл прывітаў: «Радуйся, ласкі поўная, дабраславёная Ты між жанчынамі, Госпад з Табою».

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

А Яна стрывожылася словам яго і думала, што гэта за прывітанне такое?

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

І гаворыць Ёй Анёл: «Не бойся, Марыя, бо знайшла Ты ласку ў Бога.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

І вось, пачнеш ва ўлонні і народзіш Сына, і дасі Яму імя Ісус.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Ён будзе вялікім і Сынам Узвышняга будзе названы, і дасць Яму Госпад Бог пасад Давіда, бацькі Яго;

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

і будзе Ён валадарыць над домам Якуба вечна, і валадарству Яго не будзе канца».

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

Марыя ж сказала Анёлу: «Як гэта можа стацца, калі Я мужа не спазнала?»

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

І, адказваючы, Анёл сказаў Ёй: «Дух Святы сыдзе на Цябе, і моц Узвышняга агарне Цябе. Таму, што з Цябе народзіцца, Святое, назавецца Сынам Божым.

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

І вось сваячка Твая, Лізавета, і яна пачала дзіця ў старасці сваёй, і ўжо шосты месяц у той, якую завуць няплоднай,

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

бо ў Бога не бывае немагчымым ніводнае слова».

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Марыя ж сказала: «Вось жа, Я — служка Госпадава, хай Мне станецца паводле твайго слова». І Анёл адышоў ад Яе.

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

У тыя дні Марыя, устаўшы, пайшла паспешліва ў горы, у горад Юды.

And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

І ўвайшла ў дом Захарыі, і прывітала Лізавету.

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

І, калі Лізавета пачула прывітанне Марыі, зварухнулася дзіцятка ва ўлонні яе, і Дух Святы напоўніў Лізавету,

And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

і ўсклікнула яна моцным голасам, кажучы: «Дабраславёная Ты між жанчынамі, і дабраславёны Плод улоння Твайго.

And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

А скуль жа мне гэта, што Маці Госпада майго прыйшла да мяне?

For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Вось, як толькі загучаў голас прывітання Твайго ў вушах маіх, зварухнулася з радасцю дзіцятка ў маім улонні.

And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

І шчасная Тая, што ўверыла, бо споўніцца сказанае Ёй ад Госпада».

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

І сказала Марыя: «Узвялічвае душа Мая Госпада,

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

і ўзрадаваўся дух Мой у Богу, Збаўцы Маім,

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

бо зірнуў Ён на пакорлівасць служкі Сваёй. Вось, адгэтуль шчаснай называць Мяне будуць усе роды,

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

бо зрабіў Мне вялікае Магутны, і святое імя Яго,

And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

і міласэрнасць Яго з пакалення ў пакаленне тым, што баяцца Яго.

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Выявіў магутнасць рукі Сваёй, разагнаў пыхлівых у намеры сэрца свайго,

He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

спіхнуў моцных з пасадаў і ўзвысіў пакорлівых;

He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

галодных насыціў даброццем, а багацеяў адправіў ні з чым.

He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

Прытуліў Ізраэля, слугу Свайго, памятаючы на міласэрнасць,

As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

як прадказаў бацькам нашым, Абрагаму і нашчадкам яго навечна».

And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

Ды заставалася з ёю Марыя каля трох месяцаў, і вярнулася ў Свой дом.

Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

А Лізавеце настаў час нарадзіць, і яна нарадзіла сына.

And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

Яе суседзі і сваякі, пачуўшы, што ўзвялічыў Госпад у ёй Сваю міласэрнасць, радаваліся разам з ёю.

And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

І сталася: у восьмы дзень сабраліся яны абрэзаць хлопчыка ды назваць яго імем бацькі яго, Захарыем.

And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

І, адказваючы, маці яго сказала: «Ніякім чынам, але будзе названы Ян».

And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

І сказалі ёй: «У родзе тваім няма нікога, хто б называўся гэтым імем».

And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

Дык пыталі на мігі ў бацькі яго, як ён хацеў бы назваць яго.

And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

А той запатрабаваў дошчачку і напісаў словамі: «Ян імя яго». Дык здзівіліся ўсе.

And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

А ў гэты момант раскрыліся вусны яго ды развязаўся язык яго і стаў гаварыць, дабраслаўляючы Бога.

And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

Дык ахапіў страх усіх іх суседзяў, і па ўсіх гарах Юдэі разнесліся словы пра ўсё гэта.

And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

А ўсе, што пра гэта пачулі, разважалі ў сэрцы сваім, кажучы: «Кім жа будзе гэта дзіця?» Бо рука Госпадава была з ім.

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

І Захарыя, бацька яго, напоўнены Духам Святым, праракаваў кажучы:

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

«Дабраславёны Госпад, Бог Ізраэля, бо наведаў і адкупіў народ Свой,

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

і падняў рог збаўлення нашага ў доме Давіда, паслугача Свайго,

As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

як прадказаў вуснамі святых прарокаў Сваіх, якія жылі ад пачатку вякоў,

That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

збаўленне ад ворагаў нашых ды з рук тых, што ненавідзяць нас;

To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

каб учыніць міласэрнасць бацькам нашым і ўспомніць святы запавет Свой,

The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

і прысягу, якую даў Абрагаму, бацьку нашаму, даць нам,

That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

каб без страху, свабодныя ад рук ворагаў нашых, служылі Яму

In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

ў святасці і справядлівасці перад Ім ва ўсе дні жыцця нашага.

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

І ты, дзіця, названы будзеш прарокам Узвышняга, бо пойдзеш перад абліччам Госпада, рыхтаваць дарогі Яму,

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

каб даць народу Яго навуку збаўлення ў адпушчэнні грахоў іх

Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

праз міласэрнасць бязмежную Бога нашага, у якой Усход наведаў нас, сыходзячы з вышыняў,

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

каб асвяціць тых, што сядзяць у поцемках і ў засені смерці, каб накіраваць ногі нашы на шлях супакою».

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

А дзіця расло і ўзмацоўвалася духам, і заставалася ў пустыні аж да дня свайго з’яўлення перад Ізраэлем.
